Interfacial tensions in microemulsions

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2006
We present a theoretical analysis of the interfacial tensions of microemulsions in ternary systems water-oil-nonionic surfactant. For surfactants based on oligo-ethylene oxide head-groups the temperature can be used to tune the properties of the microemulsions.

Dynamic interfacial tension of surfactant solutions

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2017
The dynamics of surfactant interfacial layers was first discussed more than a century ago. In 1946 the most important work by Ward and Tordai was published which is still the theoretical basis of all new models to describe the time dependence of interfacial properties. In addition to the diffusion controlled adsorption mechanism, many other models have

Correlating Interfacial Tensions with Surface Tensions: A Gibbsian Approach

Langmuir, 2010
The Gibbs approach to the definition of interfacial and surface tensions is used for developing a general form for a correlation between interfacial tensions and their corresponding surface tensions. This general equation can serve as a starting point for either further fundamental development or an empirical search for a correlation that fits ...

Interfacial Tension Oscillations without Surfactant Transfer

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2009
The dynamic interfacial tension oscillations of different frequency and amplitude were observed by using a pendant drop method for tetraoctyl-, tetradodecyl-, tetrahexadecyl-, and tetraoctadecylammonium bromides at a nitrobenzene/water interface. Despite surfactant mass transfer from the nitrobenzene to the aqueous phase being negligible for these ...
