Phase retrieval in low-coherence interferometric microscopy

Optics Letters, 2007
We present compensating methods that address inherent errors in quantitative phase reporting for low-coherence interferometric techniques. A brief theoretical treatment of the problem and experimental validation using spectral domain phase microscopy demonstrate mitigation of the degrading effects of phase leakage on accurate measurement of optical ...

Interferometric sensor based on coherent imaging of gratings

Applied Optics, 2003
A sensitive interferometric sensor scheme that is based on coherent imaging of a first phase grating onto a second phase grating, their periods accurately matched, is suggested. Experimental data, obtained with a setup based on the suggested scheme, are presented.

Low Coherence Interferometric Technique

2001
We propose an original technique based on low coherence interferometry to detect objects in strongly scattering media. In order to use broadband light, a special interferometer called the SISAM correlator is used to allow coherent superposition of the reference and tested beams.

Effects of source coherence on low coherence interferometric imaging

Proceedings of the IEEE 26th Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference (Cat. No.00CH37114), 2002
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an important imaging technique for medical applications. In this work we report our results on imaging of periodontal tissue. Our OCT system utilizes an erbium doped fiber amplifier emitting near 1.55 /spl mu/m as the source. The coherence length of the source can be varied by more than a factor of 5 by varying the

Polarimetric and interferometric characterization of coherent scatterers in urban areas

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006
In this paper the concept of point-like coherent scatterers (CSs) in urban areas is introduced. The detection of CSs in single and quad-polarized images is addressed and applied on polarimetric and interferometric high-resolution airborne SAR data at L-band. For the detection of CSs two different approaches are proposed and their individual performance

Design of a coherent optical interferometric system

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
A 100-mm-aperture high lateral resolution interferometer has been developed in Fine Optical Engineering Research Center (FOERC), which is applied to the measurement of spatial frequencies of up to 2.5 lines/mm over a 100mm field of view. The system transfer function of the interferometer is greater than 60% at near half the Nyquist frequency.

Interferometric studies of coherence in a powder laser

Optical Materials, 1999
Abstract Longitudinal and transversal coherence in powder laser emission was studied using two different interferometric techniques. It has been shown that longitudinal coherence length in Nd0.5La0.5Al3(BO3)4 powder (ceramics) laser emission corresponds to 0.7 A linewidth.

Spatial Coherence Analysis by Interferometric Methods

Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1977
A simple analysis of reversing front interferometers is presented. By means of the Fourier transform formalism, it is shown that the output interference pattern furnishes the complex degree of coherence o12 of the input field. An experimental demonstration of the method has been obtained by using a modified Mach-Zehnder interferometer and processing ...

Modifying of the coherence estimator for interferometric SAR

2007 1st Asian and Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, 2007
Common used coherence estimator for InSAR gives an approximate estimation, because it prerequisites the SLC SAR image be ergodicity which practically SAR images can not obey. For InSAR, the factors that degrade the usual estimator were discussed, and a new estimator was proposed. Its advantage was shown with simulation and actual data.

Effect of Source Coherence on Interferometric Imaging

Biomedical Optical Spectroscopy and Diagnostics, 2000
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a new technique for various medical-imaging applications. The operation is based on a Michelson interferometer with a low coherence source. We have constructed a prototype system designed for imaging periodontal tissues.
