Astronomical Signatures of Dark Matter
Several independent astronomical observations in different wavelength bands reveal the existence of much larger quantities of matter than what we would deduce from assuming a solar mass to light ratio. They are very high velocities of individual galaxies within clusters of galaxies, higher than expected rotation rates of stars in the outer regions of ...

From Generalized Dirac Equations to a Candidate for Dark Energy
We consider extensions of the Dirac equation with mass terms m1 + iγ5m2 and im1 + γ5m2. The corresponding Hamiltonians are Hermitian and pseudo‐Hermitian (γ5 Hermitian), respectively. The fundamental spinor solutions for all generalized Dirac equations are found in the helicity basis and brought into concise analytic form.

Shale Gas and the EU Internal Gas Market: Beyond the Hype and Hysteria. CEPS Working Document No. 369, September 2012 [PDF]
This paper analyses the interplay between shale gas and the EU internal gas market. Drawing on data presented in the 2012 International Energy Agency’s report on unconventional gas and additional scenario analyses performed by the Joint Research Centre ...

Formation of Hot Intergalactic Gas by Gas Ejection from a Galaxy in an Early Explosive Era
Chemical evolution of a galaxy in an early explosive era is studied by means of one zone model. Calculating the thermal properties of interstellar gas and the overlapping factor of expanding supernova-remnant shells, the gas escape conditions from a ...

Lactea: Web‐Based Spectrum‐Preserving Multi‐Resolution Visualization of the GAIA Star Catalog
Abstract The explosion of data in astronomy has resulted in an era of unprecedented opportunities for discovery. The GAIA mission's catalog, containing a large number of light sources (mostly stars) with several parameters such as sky position and proper motion, is playing a significant role in advancing astronomy research and has been crucial in ...

Properties of the Hii Regions Derived Using Integral Field Spectroscopy
Here we review some of our more recent results on the observed properties of Hii regions using Integral Field Spectroscopy. In particular, we illustrate the use of this technique to study in detail the ionization conditions across the nebulae for galactic Hii regions (focused on the Orion Nebula) and the statistical study of large samples of ...

The red damping wing from neutral hydrogen in the intergalactic medium is a key predicted signature of ongoing reionization. One potential contaminant of the intergalactic damping wing signal is dense gas associated with foreground galaxies, which can ...

The dynamical and thermodynamic effects of turbulence on the cosmic baryonic fluid
Both simulations and observations indicate that the so-called missing baryons reside in the intergalactic medium known as the warm-hot intergalactic medium (WHIM). In this study we employed the IllustrisTNG50-1 simulation to demonstrate that knowledge of

The Universe is at Most 88% Neutral at z = 10.6
Recent observations of GN-z11 with JWST have revealed a Ly α emission line with an equivalent width (EW) of 18 ± 2 Å. At z = 10.6, this galaxy is expected to lie in the heart of reionization.
