This chapter describes some of the sociological parameters of intergenerational solidarity. We argue that there are two levels of analysis, the macro-and microsocial; the macrosocial is reflected at the level of society and groups (what we will call “macrogens”) and the microsocial at the level of families and individuals (“microgens”).
