Cost-Effective FPGA Instrument for Harmonic and Interharmonic Monitoring

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2013
The need of large-scale monitoring of power quality (PQ) in electrical power systems require the design of reliable and cost-effective measurement instruments. In this framework, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) architectures seem to offer valid solutions since they allow powerful measurement algorithms to be implemented on low-cost hardware with ...

Harmonics and interharmonics spectral analysis by ANN

2016 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2016), 2016
In this paper we present a new method based on ADALINE artificial neural networks (ANNs) for the spectra analysis and frequencies estimation of signals with harmonic and interharmonic content. First tests indicate that the method is able to obtain high accurate results without any information about the signal under analysis.

A robust and adaptive interharmonics detection method

2017 IEEE Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (EI2), 2017
In the active distribution network (ADN), the interharmonic distortion level is aggravated due to the growing penetration of distributed generations and wide application of power electronic loads. The interharmonics, even at a low amplitude level, can cause power quality problems, deteriorate the measurement accuracies of the advanced metering ...

The Modified Harmonic Domain: Interharmonics

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2011
This paper presents the basics of two techniques, named here as the modified harmonic domain and the modified dynamic harmonic domain, proposed for calculating steady and dynamic states, respectively. These techniques have their fundamental in the harmonic domain with a substantial improvement: the inclusion of interharmonics in either steady or ...

Analysis of Wavelet Transform for Interharmonic Measurement

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Fast and accurate measurement of interharmonic is a difficult problem. Fourier transform is widely used but it is not suitable for real-time application. Wavelet transform has better real-time performance, but its accuracy needs to be improved, so the paper studies the performance of wavelet transform for interharmonic measurement.

Interharmonic measurements in IEC standard framework

IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,, 2003
The main problem for harmonic and interharmonic measurement is to reduce the effects of the spectral leakage of harmonics on interharmonic components: line frequency synchronization techniques or algorithms to compensate desynchronisation are necessary.

Real and reactive power analysis for interharmonics

IEEE Electric Ship Technologies Symposium, 2005., 2005
Due to the non-harmonic nature of interharmonics, power flow analysis associated with interharmonic frequencies has not been intensively studied. Hence, we propose the use of the cross power spectrum technique for interharmonic power analysis. The cross power spectrum allows one to determine the magnitude and direction of real and reactive power flow ...

A Method to Determine the Existence of Genuine Interharmonics

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2012
Interharmonic components can often be seen from the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) results of measured voltage or current waveforms. These components may be caused by various factors, such as transient waveform distortions or noises. They are not necessarily related to the real interharmonics.

Interharmonics-recommended updates to IEEE 519

IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,, 2003
Over the last several years, much work has been done in the field of interharmonics. International standards organizations have defined the terminology, organizations and individuals have published significant work on their impacts on equipment and humans, and some guidelines for allowable levels in power systems have been proposed.
