An Extended Look at Midpoint Optimization for Segment Routing

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
In this paper, we discuss and examine the concept of Midpoint Optimization (MO) for Segment Routing (SR). It is based on the idea of integrating SR policies into the Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) to allow various demands to be steered into them.

Molecular Basis for Vacuolar Iron Transport by OsVIT2, a Target for Iron Biofortification in Rice

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iron deficiency is the prevalent and most widespread nutritional shortfall for humans, affecting over 30% of the global population and leading to anemia, particularly among preschool‐aged children and pregnant women in developing countries. Simultaneously, while half of the world's population depends on rice (Oryza sativa L.) as a staple food,

Design and Implementation of a Multiprotocol IoT Gateway [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the XIV International Conference of Electronics, Control and Telecommunications (CIECT). 179-198. ISBN 978-958-44-5254-2 (2019), 2020
In the coming years, the interconnection of a large number of devices is expected, which will lead to a new form of interaction between the real and the virtual world. In this promising scenario, known as the Internet of Things, it is expected that different objects, such as sensors, industrial robots, cars, appliances, will be connected to the ...

Traceroute sampling makes random graphs appear to have power law degree distributions

open access: yes, 2004
The topology of the Internet has typically been measured by sampling traceroutes, which are roughly shortest paths from sources to destinations. The resulting measurements have been used to infer that the Internet's degree distribution is scale-free ...

An Analysis of Students Who Represent Missed Opportunity for Diversifying STEM Fields

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although many students exhibit interest and demonstrate academic preparedness in math and science, a significant proportion of students do not major in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. These students encounter systemic barriers to STEM opportunities related to their intersecting gender and racial/ethnic ...

Weakness Analysis and Improvement of a Gateway-Oriented Password-Based Authenticated Key Exchange Protocol [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Recently, Abdalla et al. proposed a new gateway-oriented password-based authenticated key exchange (GPAKE) protocol among a client, a gateway, and an authentication server, where each client shares a human-memorable password with a trusted server so that they can resort to the server for authentication when want to establish a shared session key with ...

IoT Content Object Security with OSCORE and NDN: A First Experimental Comparison [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of IFIP Networking 2020, 2020
The emerging Internet of Things (IoT) challenges the end-to-end transport of the Internet by low power lossy links and gateways that perform protocol translations. Protocols such as CoAP or MQTT-SN are degraded by the overhead of DTLS sessions, which in common deployment protect content transfer only up to the gateway.

Coded Relaying in LoRa Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
To enhance the reliability of LoRa sensor networks, we propose two opportunistic forwarding protocols in which relays overhear sensor-to-gateway messages and periodically forward them to a gateway. To reduce the number of transmissions, the relays forward XOR sums of the overheard messages.
