Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors for Adjustable-Speed Drives

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1986
Interior permanent-magnet (IPM) synchronous motors possess special features for adjustable-speed operation which distinguish them from other classes of ac machines. They are robust high powerdensity machines capable of operating at high motor and inverter efficiencies over wide speed ranges, including considerable ranges of constant-power operation ...

STABILITY OF INTERIOR PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS MOTORS

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1989
ABSTRACT This paper presents a model to study the stability of interior-type permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motors. It includes the study of sudden change in operating conditions when the machine is operated in open loop conditon. Simulation results show that the reduced order models of FM machines provide sufficient accuracy to predict the machine ...

High-Efficiency Line-Start Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2004
This paper presents a successful design of a high-efficiency small but novel interior permanent-magnet motor using NdBFe magnets. It is designed to operate both at line and variable frequencies. Line start with high inertia load was a special consideration.

Parameter identification for interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor

2007 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2007
To realize the high performance drive for vector controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs), the exact motor parameters are required. However, motor parameters vary with driving conditions. In this paper, parameter variation effect is quantitatively presented for maximum efficiency control and flux-weakening control.

Nonlinear control of interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2003
This paper presents a novel speed control technique for an interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive based on newly developed adaptive backstepping technique. The proposed stabilizing feedback law for the IPMSM drive is shown to be globally asymptotically stable in the context of Lyapunov theory.

Interior type permanent magnet synchronous motor analysis by equivalent circuits

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1989
Experimental tests show that steady-state core loss of interior-type permanent magnet machines changes with the terminal voltage in a peculiar way due to flux redistribution produced by armature reaction. An equivalent circuit is proposed to predict such loss through new parameters that can be easily determined by experimental tests.
