Interlacing Results for Hypergraphs [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Blockchain in Kyoto 2021 (BCK21), 2021
Hypergraphs are a generalization of graphs in which edges can connect any number of vertices. They allow the modeling of complex networks with higher-order interactions, and their spectral theory studies the qualitative properties that can be inferred from the spectrum, i.e. the multiset of the eigenvalues, of an operator associated to a hypergraph. It

Interlacing of zeros of weakly holomorphic modular forms

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, Series B, 2014
We prove that the zeros of a family of extremal modular forms interlace, settling a question of Nozaki. Additionally, we show that the zeros of almost all forms in a basis for the space of weakly holomorphic modular forms of

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

On inverse problem for tree of Stieltjes strings

open access: yesPracì Mìžnarodnogo Geometričnogo Centru, 2021
For a given metric tree and two strictly interlacing sequences of numbers there exits a distribution of point masses on the edges (which are Stieltjes strings) such that one of the sequences is the spectrum of the   spectral problem  with the Neumann ...

Weighted Interlace Polynomials [PDF]

open access: yesCombinatorics, Probability and Computing, 2009
The interlace polynomials introduced by Arratia, Bollobás and Sorkin extend to invariants of graphs with vertex weights, and these weighted interlace polynomials have several novel properties. One novel property is a version of the fundamental three-term formulathat lacks the last term.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

The Interlace [PDF]

open access: yesARQ (Santiago), 2018

Note on the product of the largest and the smallest eigenvalue of a graph

open access: yesSpecial Matrices
In this note, we use eigenvalue interlacing to derive an inequality between a graph’s maximum degree and its maximum and minimum adjacency eigenvalues. The equality case is fully characterized.
