Interlaminar shear strength of high-density laminates at cryogenic temperatures

Cryogenics, 1995
Glass-fibre-reinforced plastics with 73 vol% glass content have been developed with improved mechanical and thermal properties in the laminated direction. The thermal contraction down to liquid-helium temperature and the Young's modulus at room temperature in the laminated direction were 0.3% and 23 GPa, respectively.

Problems of Cryogenic Interlaminar Shear Strength Testing

1984
Increasingly large quantities of filamentary composite materials are being employed as structural members because composites combine material lightness with good strength, manageability of load paths and, in many cases, thermal and electrical insulating capability.

Analysis of methods of determining the interlaminar shear strength of composite materials

Polymer Mechanics, 1977
The range of geometrical dimensions of a sample in which the values of the interlaminar shear strength determined by four of the five methods discussed are practically constant has been established. Good agreement is shown in the values of the characteristic being determined which are obtained by each of the four methods.

Interlaminar Shear Strength and Fracture Behavior in Aged Composite Laminates

Journal of Thermoplastic Composite Materials, 1998
An experimental procedure for measuring interlaminar shear strength and fracture toughness in composite laminates was proposed. The procedure was used to determine the interlaminar properties of a quasi-isotropic laminate of IM7/K3B thermoplastic composite that had undergone thermal or thermo-mechanical aging.

The influence of resin strength and defects on the interlaminar shear strength of filament‐wound composites

Polymer Engineering & Science, 1965
AbstractThe interlaminar shear strength of reinforced plastic composites has long been recognized as a critical property in the structural performance of composites. However, its role in structural performance and the many factors that influence it have not been clearly elucidated. Although much attention has been given to the importance of resin‐glass
