Illuminating interlayer interactions
Nature Materials, 2018A synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiment demonstrates an unexpected accumulation of electron density in the interlayer region of TiS2, and provides a benchmark for theoretical models of weak interlayer bonding.

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1999
The extensive research done on interlayer exchange coupling in transition metal multilayers has resulted in a deep understanding of this coupling and a remarkable agreement between theoretical results and measurements. The coupling between two magnetic layers separated by a non-magnetic spacer layer is mediated by the electrons of the spacer layer. The

Interlayer pairing in layered superconductors
Physical Review B, 1992A model of layered superconductors with exclusively interlayer pairing is studied. It is shown that singlet and triplet interlayer pairing have the same amplitude as long as the hopping between the layers is not too large and the effective interaction is dispersionless.
