Interleukin-1 beta, interleukin-6 and TGF-beta in follicular tissue of impacted third molars
European Cytokine Network, 2011The clinical evaluation and management of impacted third molars remain challenging. The aim of the present study was to investigate possible associations between follicular tissue cytokines and radiographic manifestations of impacted third molar. The population included 72 patients who underwent surgical extraction of impacted third molars.

Interleukin‐1β, Interleukin‐18, and the Interleukin‐1β Converting Enzymea
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1998ABSTRACT: When injected intravenously into humans and animals, interleukin‐1β (IL‐1β) is perhaps the most potent of the endogenous pyrogens. However, IL‐1β is initially synthesized as a relatively inactive precursor molecule (proIL‐1β) which lacks a signal peptide and hence remains inside the cell.

Serum Interleukin-1 Beta is Increased in Cluster Headache
Cephalalgia, 1993We measured serum interleukin-I beta (IL-1 beta) in 24 episodic cluster headache (CH) patients and 45 normal controls using a specific ELISA method. There was an increase in IL-1 beta in all CH patients compared to controls. IL-1 beta was further increased during the ictal phase of CH compared to patients between attacks and normal individuals ...

Probing the role of interleukin-1 beta convertase in interleukin-1 beta secretion.
Agents and actions. Supplements, 1992Interleukin-1 beta must be processed from its precursor form of 31.5 kDa to its mature form of 17 kDa in order to elaborate its wide array of bioactivities. The recent identification of a monocyte-specific endoprotease, termed interleukin-1 beta-converting enzyme (ICE), capable of generating authentic, bioactive 17 kDa IL-1 beta suggests that this ...

Decidualization of human endometrial stromal cells is suppressed by endometrial IL-1 in an autocrine or paracrine manner, indicating that constant suppression of stromal decidualization by IL-1 requires a neutralizing mechanism for IL-1 action to accept embryo implantation.

Interleukin-1 alpha and beta induce interleukin-1 beta gene expression in human dermal fibroblasts.
Biochemical and biophysical research communications, 1988The ability of the two forms of interleukin-1, IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta, to induce IL-1 beta gene expression in human skin fibroblasts was studied in vitro, using Northern blot hybridization. Both recombinant IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta caused a dramatic increase in IL-1 beta mRNA levels, IL-1 alpha being more efficient than IL-1 beta.

Six nonpregnant, nonlactating Jersey cows, averaging 4 to 6 years old, were used to evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of recombinant bovine interleukin 1 beta (rBoIL-1 beta). Cows were given 166 ng of rBoIL-1 beta/kg of body weight at 8-hour intervals for 96 hours. Persistent leukocytosis was observed within 3 hours of rBoIL-1 treatment, peaking 24

Interleukin-1 beta targeted therapy for type 2 diabetes
Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy, 2009Since having been cloned in 1984, IL-1beta has been the subject of over 22,000 citations in Pubmed, among them over 800 reviews. This is because of its numerous effects. IL-1beta is a regulator of the body's inflammatory response and is produced after infection, injury, and antigenic challenge.

Nucleotide sequence of ovine macrophage interleukin-1 beta cDNA
DNA Sequence, 1991We have cloned and sequenced the cDNA for the coding region of ovine alveolar macrophage interleukin-1 beta. At the nucleotide level, the ovine cDNA shares 95, 74 and 71% homology with the bovine, human and murine cDNA equivalents or homologs. Comparison at the amino acid level revealed 95% homology with bovine IL-1 beta and approximately 57% with the ...

Differential biological activities of human interleukin-1 alpha and interleukin-1 beta.
European cytokine network, 1991We examined the biological effects induced by both human recombinant interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) and beta (IL-1 beta) in five different cell types of human, rat and mouse origin. IL-1 alpha and beta preparations were standardized in terms of biological activity in the EL-4/CTLL bioassay and, in parallel, employed to stimulate PGE2 secretion in ...
