Tuning Amorphous‐Crystalline Catalytic Interfaces by Mechanochemistry: Cu‐Based Metallic Glasses Coupled with Ceria for CO Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.

Evaluations of Microstructure in Ultra-Fine-Grained Matrix with Sintering-Assisted ECAP Process in Aluminum–Nickel Powders

open access: yesCrystals
The aim of this study was the synthesis of intermetallic crystal dispersion in an ultra-fine-grained (UFG) aluminum matrix by the equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) process, which provides severe plastic deformation (SPD) of aluminum-5 and 10% wt ...

Review of Thin Lithium Metal Battery Anode Fabrication – Microstructure – Electrochemistry Relations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thin, lightweight lithium‐metal anodes are pivotal for practical high‐energy batteries. This review surveys processing routes that convert diverse Li precursors, e.g., ingots, melts, solutions, and vapor, into Li‐rich foils with controlled thickness, areal density, and tailored functionality.

Research Progress of Metal-Intermetallic Laminated Composites

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials, 2018
Metal-intermetallic laminated composites not only retain the high temperature strength of intermetallics, but also possess the high toughness and ductility of metal at room temperature which are gradually becoming the research priorities of domestic and ...

Manufacturing of Composites by Pressure Infiltration, Structure and Mechanical Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper presents the possibility of composite block production by using pressure infiltration technology. This method uses the pressure of an inert gas (usually argon or nitrogen) to force the melted matrix material to infiltrate the reinforcing ...

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Successive Orthorhombic Distortions in Kagome Metals by Molecular Orbital Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Orthorhombic distortions in kagome metals break the symmetry required for exotic charge order. Synchrotron X‐ray diffraction of NdRu3Si2 reveals successive orthorhombic transitions driven by molecular orbital formation between kagome layers. The frustrated kagome lattice hosts degenerate patterns of kagome dimers whose short‐range correlations produce ...
