Role of f electrons in rare-earth and uranium intermetallics-An alternative look at heavy-fermion phenomena [PDF]

open access: yesActa Physica 4 (2007) 33, 1999
The understanding of magnetic and electronic properties of rare-earth intermetallics is summarized. The properties of NdNi5 or ErNi5 are understood by considering a few electronic subsystems like the f electronic subsystem and the conduction-electron subsystem.

Structurally ordered high‐entropy intermetallic nanoparticles with enhanced C–C bond cleavage for ethanol oxidation

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 4, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
A new class of structurally ordered PtRhFeNiCu high‐entropy intermetallics (HEIs) is developed as electrocatalysts for the ethanol oxidation reaction. The assembled high‐temperature polybenzimidazole‐based direct ethanol fuel cell with the HEIs as anode provided a high peak power density of 47.50 mW/cm2.

Electronic properties and Fermi surfaces MgCNi$_{3}$ and related intermetallics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
The band structure of the new perovskite-like superconductor MgCNi$_{3}$ was studied by the self-consistent FP-LMTO method. The superconducting properties of MgCNi$_{3}$ are associated with an intensive peak in the density of Ni3d states near the Fermi level. The absence of superconductivity for nonstoichiometric compositions MgC$_{1-x}$Ni$_{3}$ is due

Ba‐Ni‐Ge Clathrate Transformation Maximizes Active Site Utilization of Nickel for Enhanced Oxygen Evolution Performance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Discovering novel oxygen evolution reaction (OER) (pre)catalysts with exceptional catalytic activity and long‐term stability is pivotal for advancing technologies aimed at decarbonization. In this study, we present the ternary Ba8Ni6Ge40 phase with a clathrate structure exhibiting remarkable performance in alkaline OER. When integrated into an alkaline

The applications of single‐atom alloys in electrocatalysis: Progress and challenges

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 4, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
Single‐atom alloys (SAAs) with peculiar electronic structures, well‐defined active sites, and maximum atom utilization are promising to replace traditional noble metal electrocatalysts. Representative strategies to prepare SAAs including wet chemistry, galvanic replacement, dealloying, and atomic layer deposition are introduced.

A Programmable Nanoparticle Conversion Pathway to Monodisperse Polyelemental High Entropy Alloy, Intermetallic, and Multiphase Nanoparticles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Polyelemental nanoparticles (PE NPs), those consisting of four or more elements, exhibit unique properties from synergistic compositional effects. Examples include high entropy alloys, high entropy intermetallics, and multiphase types, including Janus and core‐shell architectures.
