Ca14FeAs11 – A structure comprising structural motifs of iron‐based superconductors and Ca‐As Zintl phases

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 648, Issue 23, December 13, 2022., 2022
Abstract Ca14FeAs11 is the first iron‐containing representative of the Ca14AlSb11 structure type and the first compound with isolated FeAs4 tetrahedra. It can be regarded as a salt‐like compound containing isolated [FeAs4]9− tetrahedra, linear [As3]7− units, isolated As3− anions and Ca2+ cations and thus is a borderline compound between binary Fe−As ...

Origin of the yield stress anomaly in L12 intermetallics unveiled with physically-informed machine-learning potentials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The yield stress anomaly of L12 intermetallics such as Ni3Al or Ni3Ga is controlled by the so-called Kear-Wilsdorf lock (KWL), of which the formation and unlocking are governed by dislocation cross-slip. Despite the importance of L12 intermetallics for strengthening Ni-based superalloys, microscopic understanding of the KWL is limited.

TiNiSi‐Type ALiAu (A = Ca, Sr, Ba, Eu, Yb) Compounds: Alternative Use of “Excess” Electrons

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Excess electrons distinguish the bonding in ALiAu (A = Yb, Ca, Eu, Sr, Ba), a new series of intermetallic compounds crystallizing in TiNiSi type. According to bonding analysis, these metallic phases are classified as aurides containing polycations with multiatomic bonding between A, Li, and Au . Abstract New TiNiSi‐type compounds ALiAu (A = Ca, Sr, Ba,

Low‐Temperature Synthesis of NiSb2, Cu2Sb, InSb and Sb2Te3 Starting from the Elements

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 648, Issue 23, December 13, 2022., 2022
Abstract Ionic liquids (ILs) are able to activate elements that are insoluble in common solvents. Here, the synthesis of binary antimony compounds directly from elements was explored. The 12 elements Ti−Cu, Al, Ga, In, and Te, known to form binary compounds with Sb, were reacted with Sb in [P66614]Cl under inert conditions in a closed glass flask with ...

Determination of crystal structure and physical properties of Ru2Al5 intermetallic from first-principles calculations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Novel ordered intermetallic compounds have stimulated much interest. Ru-Al alloys are a prominent class of high-temperature structural materials, but the experimentally reported crystal structure of the intermetallic Ru2Al5 phase remains elusive and debatable.

The Role of Lithium Ions on the Solubility of K4E4 in Ethylenediamine and the Oxidation of the Zintl Anions [E4]4‐ (E = Ge, Sn, Pb) as well as [Ge9]4‐

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The solubility of K4Ge4, K4Sn4, and K4Pb4 phases and oxidation of comprised four‐atom clusters in ethylenediamine (en) is induced by the addition of LiCl. The 119Sn NMR spectra of [Sn9]4− with Li+ and K+ counterions indicate a cation‐dependent change in both the chemical shift and coupling constant, strongly suggesting K+/[Sn9]4− ion pairing, which is ...

Endohedral Ten‐Vertex Clusters [Ga@Tl10]8− in the Mixed Trielides A8GaTl10 (A=K, Rb, Cs)

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 648, Issue 23, December 13, 2022., 2022
Abstract The mixed Ga/Tl trielides A8GaTl10 (A=K, Rb, Cs), which were yielded from stoichiometric melts of the elements, crystallize in the tetragonal K8ZnIn10‐type structure (SG P4/nnc, a=1018.58(3)/1047.14(6)/1077.74(10), c=1363.71(5)/1400.07(8)/1435.4(2) pm, Z=2, R1=0.0187/0.0209/0.0218 for A=K/Rb/Cs).

Investigation of ordering phenomenon in Me–Pt (Me=Fe,Ni) liquid alloys

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2008
The phase diagrams of Fe–Pt and Ni–Pt liquid alloy systems show the existence of FePt and NiPt intermetallic compounds, respectively, in their solid intermediate states, and the associative tendency between unlike atoms in these liquid alloys has been ...
