Achieving Complex Nanostructures: The Role of Hydrogen in Controlling Mechanical Alloying and Microstructure Evolution in the TiVZrNbHf‐Cu System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the drastic influence hydrogen has on the microstructure evolution during severe plastic deformation. High‐pressure torsion of a TiVZrNbHf‐Cu composite results in mechanical alloying and subsequent amorphization, whereas replacing the high entropy alloy with the corresponding hydride stabilizes a two‐phase microstructure.

Reconfigurable In–S Coordination in SPAN Cathodes: Unlocking High Sulfur Utilization and Fast Kinetics for Practical Li‒S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An amorphous indium–sulfur complex is embedded in SPAN matrix to create reversible In–S coordination bonds that dynamically break and reform during cycling. This bond reconfiguration actively anchors intermediate polysulfides and accelerates sulfur conversion kinetics, providing simultaneously high active material utilization and durable cycling ...

3D Topological Inorganic Electrides: Screening, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In inorganic electrides, zero‐, one‐, and two‐dimensional (0D, 1D, and 2D) interstitial anionic electrons interconnect within lattice cavities, collectively forming a three‐dimensional (3D) network, further coupling magnetism and topological features, leading to the emergence of 3D topological inorganic electrides.

In Situ Formation of Mechanically Interlocked Heterointerfaces with Ultrahigh Bonding Strength for Mg‐Based Multilayered Sheets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Crystal‐orientation controlled hot‐rolling strategy creates Mg‐Ta immiscible composites featuring mechanically interlocked in situ formed interfaces (80.5 MPa bond strength) and excellent tensile properties (340–395 MPa UTS). Systematic multiscale investigations reveal a serration‐size‐dependent bonding mechanism and a three‐stage interfacial evolution
