Reactive Nanoparticle Composed Bilayers: An Alternate Route Toward the Production of Pt/Al Nanofoils

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Spark ablation‐assisted gas phase electrodeposition is an alternate route toward Pt/Al self‐propagation reactive system synthesis. Pt film morphology‐dependent reaction kinetics is a significant advantage. Low spark power and gas flow rate produce porous films and slow speeds, while high power and flow rate give three orders of magnitude faster ...

Intermetallic Platinum‐Calcium Alloy Breaks the Activity‐Stability Trade‐Off in Fuel Cell for Enhanced Performance

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A solution‐phase synthesized platinum‐alkaline earth metal alloy (PtCa) has been designed as an alternative to platinum‐transition metal alloys. The resulting alloy exhibits a structurally ordered arrangement which simultaneously achieves high activity and stability.

Configuring a Liquid State High‐Entropy Metal Alloy Electrocatalyst

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A liquid‐state high‐entropy metal alloy is developed to overcome key kinetic bottlenecks in ammonia electrosynthesis from nitrate. Atomically dispersed active sites and a dynamic hydrogen‐shuttling mechanism enable barrier‐free deoxygenation and hydrogenation. Guided by molecular dynamics, design of experiments, and density functional theory, the alloy

Self‐Assembled Pd(II) Nano‐Adsorbents for Iodine and Methyl Iodide Capture in Vapor and Aqueous Phases

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Industrial and medical activities have led to severe iodine contamination, posing risks to public health. This study investigates four non‐porous self‐assembled coordination cages for efficient iodine capture in vapor and aqueous phases. These cages demonstrate exceptional adsorption capacity, rapid kinetics, and recyclability, making them promising ...

Corrosion Behavior of Additively Manufactured Steels: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This review explores the corrosion behavior of various steel types, including austenitic, martensitic, duplex, low‐alloy, and maraging steels, produced via additive manufacturing (AM). It discusses how AM impacts material properties, such as grain structure and the formation of defects like porosity, and highlights the importance of optimizing process ...

Joining Stainless Steel with a Novel Fe‐Based Amorphous Brazing Foil

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A newly developed flexible Fe‐based foil is to be used in the field of brazing to minimize the use of Ni in brazing alloys. The substitution of Ni will result in ecological, economic, and health benefits. Investigations of the brazing properties have shown that the newly developed Fe‐based foil can cope with a conventional Ni‐based brazing alloy.

Recycling End‐of‐Life Solid Oxide Cell Interconnect Assemblies into Commercial‐Grade AISI 304 Stainless Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study validates a recycling pathway for converting interconnect assemblies from end‐of‐life SOC stacks into commercial‐grade AISI 304 steels. Using scrap‐based steelmaking operations, austenitic cast steels with <4.0% δ‐ferrite are successfully produced.

Photoemission of intermetallics

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1987
Abstract Photoemission and spin-resolved threshold photoemission data on magnetic intermetallic compounds as e.g., MnP and NiMnSb are reviewed. New data on PtMnSb(100) are presented and discussed in terms of a calculated band structure. Recent spin- and angle-resolved photoemission data on monolayer films of Gd on Fe(100) have allowed to test the ...
