Experiments for reinforcing the diffusion bonding plane by the oxide dispersion strengthening effect are presented. Small ceramic particles (0.5 and 50 μm, respectively) are incorporated. Furthermore, ceramic particles help to penetrate stable passivation layers, enabling atomic diffusion across bonding planes. Since a ceramic–metallic interface cannot

Fe‐ and Mn‐containing AlSi alloys undergo aluminothermic reaction with Mn oxide in sessile‐drop and crucible experiments forming poor‐wetting Al2O3 while Mn enriches in the alloy. Primary Fe‐containing particles are preferentially attached to the Mn oxide.

Are there stable long-range ordered Fe(1-x)Cr(x) compounds?
The heat of formation of Fe-Cr alloys undergoes an anomalous change of sign at small Cr concentrations. This observation raises the question whether there are intermetallic phases present in this composition range. Here we report the discovery of several

Intermetallics Research in Australia [PDF]
The past two decades have seen alloys based upon intermetallic phases evolve from the status of scientifically interesting materials with a range of attractive properties, combined with overriding disadvantages, to that of the next generation of advanced engineering alloys. This evolution, which has been achieved through a very significant research and

A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...
