Structural and elastic properties of Mg3CuH0.6 ternary hydride by ab initio study

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2018
In the present work, we investigate the structural and elastic properties of a new intermetallic hydride compound Mg3CuH0.6. The theoretical study has been carried out based on density functional theory (DFT), within local density approximation (LDA) and

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Radiation‐Resistant Aluminum Alloy for Space Missions in the Extreme Environment of the Solar System

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel ultrafine‐grained aluminum crossover alloy exhibits unprecedented radiation resistance and mechanical stability under extreme irradiation doses up to 100 dpa. The exceptional resilience arises from thermodynamically stable T‐phase precipitates, enabling lightweight structural materials for next‐generation spacecraft and extraterrestrial ...

Unusual weak magnetic exchange in two different structure types: YbPt$_2$Sn and YbPt$_2$In

open access: yes, 2014
We present the structural, magnetic, thermodynamic, and transport properties of the two new compounds YbPt$_2$Sn and YbPt$_2$In. X-ray powder diffraction shows that they crystallize in different structure types, the hexagonal ZrPt$_2$Al and the cubic ...

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Experimental determination of superconducting parameters for the intermetallic perovskite superconductor ${\text {MgCNi}}_3

open access: yes, 2002
We have measured upper-critical-field $H_{\text c2}$, specific heat C, and tunneling spectra of the intermetallic perovskite superconductor MgCNi${}_3$ with a superconducting transition temperature $T_{\text c}\approx 7.6$ K.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.
