Machine Learning Unveils Isolated‐Surrounded Pt Motifs in High‐Entropy Alloys for Superior Low‐Temperature Ammonia Oxidation

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A physics‐informed machine learning approach successfully decodes the complex catalytic activity of high‐entropy alloys for ammonia oxidation. By revealing a synergistic mechanism involving lattice and electronic couplings, the study identifies a superior “isolated‐surrounded” platinum motif.

The Hydrogenation of MNi3 Compounds (M = Si, Ge, Sn, Sb, Zr, V, Fe)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Hexagonal Ni3Sn takes up hydrogen to form α‐Ni3SnHx (filled Ni3Sn type, ΔV = 0.9%), followed by a transition to the cubic β‐Ni3SnHy (filled AuCu3 type, ΔV = 1.1% with respect to pristine Ni3Sn), while MNi3 (M = Zr, Si, Sb) compounds show no reaction toward hydrogen and MNi3 (M = V, Fe, Ge) compounds only a minute hydrogen uptake.

Linear Pentanuclear 3d–4f M‐Gd‐M‐Gd‐M Complexes Prepared From a One‐Pot Reaction Show Intramolecular Ferromagnetic Interactions (M  =  Cu, Ni, and Co)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Using a multidentate ligand with two distinct coordination sites and a bridging coordination site, a series of novel linear pentanuclear complexes with alternately arranged 3d and 4f ions via a one‐pot reaction were synthesized. Cryomagnetic studies revealed the presence of intramolecular ferromagnetic interactions and their magnetic entropy changes ...

Experimental and Comparative Study of the Corrosion Behavior of Lean Duplex Stainless Steel in Seawater

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The localized corrosion behavior of lean duplex stainless steel EN 1.4062 is systematically compared with austenitic and higher‐alloyed duplex grades in natural seawater. A clear resistance ranking is established, highlighting EN 1.4062 as a cost‐effective alternative for limited marine exposure.

Corrosion Behavior of Commercial FeCrAl and TiAl Alloys in Molten Pb With 2E‐7 wt% Oxygen at 600°C and 700°C

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Excellent corrosion resistance of commercial Al‐containing materials is shown for exposures to liquid lead (Pb) at 600°C. However, oxide scale failure occurs at 700°C. The formed oxide scales and their failure mechanisms are explored. ABSTRACT Liquid lead (Pb) is an attractive heat transfer fluid for advanced thermal energy storage (TES) systems.

Analysis of Corrosion and Wall Perforation in the Heat Exchanger Made of AISI 316L Stainless Steel

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Elevated passivation temperature is identified as the dominant factor triggering localized corrosion and subsequent perforation of AISI 316L heat exchanger tubes. Electrochemical and complementary characterization results show that the alloy retains high resistance to general, pitting, and intergranular corrosion, indicating that failure primarily ...
