Stochastic interpolation of sparsely sampled time series by a superstatistical random process and its synthesis in Fourier and wavelet space

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity, 2023
We present a novel method for stochastic interpolation of sparsely sampled time signals based on a superstatistical random process generated from a multivariate Gaussian scale mixture.

Universal emission intermittency in quantum dots, nanorods and nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Virtually all known fluorophores exhibit mysterious episodes of emission intermittency. A remarkable feature of the phenomenon is a power-law distribution of on- and off-times observed in colloidal semiconductor quantum dots, nanorods, nanowires and some

Dynamic Testing of Cold Gas Sprayed Bipolar Plates–Porous Transport Layer Coating System in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

Multiscaling of galactic cosmic ray flux

open access: yes, 2003
Multiscaling analysis of differential flux dissipation rate of galactic cosmic rays (Carbon nuclei) is performed in the energy ranges: 56.3-73.4 Mev/nucleon and 183.1-198.7 MeV/nucleon, using the data collected by ACE/CRIS spacecraft instrument for 2000 ...

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Micro-Scale Variability Impacts the Outcome of Competition Between Different Modeled Size Classes of Phytoplankton

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Previous modeling studies have shown that observed micro-scale (mm) variability of nutrients and phytoplankton biomass can strongly impact the large-scale mean growth response of phytoplankton in ways that cannot be represented by typical models based on

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Evolution of Turbulence in the Kelvin–Helmholtz Instability in the Terrestrial Magnetopause

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
The dynamics occurring at the terrestrial magnetopause are investigated by using Geotail and THEMIS spacecraft data of magnetopause crossings during ongoing Kelvin−Helmholtz instability.

Assessing Relative Volatility/Intermittency/Energy Dissipation

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce the notion of relative volatility/intermittency and demonstrate how relative volatility statistics can be used to estimate consistently the temporal variation of volatility/intermittency when the data of interest are generated by a non ...

Intermittent Claudication [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1955
The diagnosis and therapy of intermittent claudication are critically reviewed. A detailed, concrete and positive program is described whereby every physician can effectively treat patients with intermittent claudication without recourse to intricate diagnostic or therapeutic techniques. The value of this program is illustrated with four case reports.
