A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

Exponential smoothing for intermittent demand with demand basis updated more frequently than seasonality factors

open access: yesGestão & Produção, 2019
This study aims to present an alternative technique of exponential smoothing to estimate the demand for items with intermittent and seasonal demand. The usual technique would aggregate demand periods (months in quarters, for instance) to calculate a ...

Optimizing Hydroxychloroquine Blood Levels and Long‐Term Hydroxychloroquine Intake Could Lower Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk and Prevent Polypharmacy in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is the cornerstone of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) management with benefits extending beyond SLE control, including protection against atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although HCQ blood levels reflect recent exposure and long‐term intake reflects medication adherence, the impact of longitudinal ...

Validation of Patient‐Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pediatric Measures for Children With Chronic Nonbacterial Osteomyelitis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To assess the validity of the Patient‐Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pediatric measures in patients with chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO). Methods Within the longitudinal patient registry of CNO, English‐speaking patients aged 8 years and older self‐reported PROMIS Pediatric measures of fatigue, pain ...

Real‐world safety of concomitant colchicine and statin therapy

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This study aimed to evaluate the risk of clinically meaningful muscle‐ and liver‐related outcomes associated with concomitant colchicine–statin therapy in a real‐world setting, and to determine whether concomitant therapy increases the incidence of toxicity compared with either agent alone.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Towards Optimal Scheduling of Intermittent Water Supply Systems Incorporating Consumer Behavior

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
Intermittent water supply (IWS) systems, originally intended for continuous supply, have been compelled to adopt intermittent supply due to factors such as water scarcity, financial limitations, ineffective operational tactics, unexpected increases in ...

Evaluation of demand and supply predictors of uptake of intermittent preventive treatment for malaria in pregnancy in Malawi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Reference: MWJ2017,8,20Background. The intermittent preventive treatment (IPTp) policy of Malawi (2002) stipulates that IPTp is administered during antenatal care as a direct observation therapy (DOT).
