Intermodality and Synchromodality
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2015Transport networks have evolved from multimodal networks towards integrated networks allowing for intermodal transport – the carriage of a single load unit by consecutive modes in a transport chain. Synchromodality (or synchronized intermodality) – as the next stage in port/hinterland network development – can be briefly summarized as the vision of a ...

This article provides an overview of the history, theory, and research focused on the early development of intermodal perception. It focuses on the role of intersensory perception of audiovisual relations in the development of object and event perception and aspects of social development, including perception of speech, faces and voices. We also review

Intermodal blocking in honeybees
The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology B, 2001Previous findings of intramodal but not of intermodal blocking in foraging honeybees prompted a new series of experiments with colours, odours, a proximal visual landmark, and a localized geomagnetic anomaly as stimuli. In Experiments 1-2, the landmark was blocked by both colour and odour.

Research on passenger intermodality
2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE), 2016As the important part of the comprehensive transportation service system, the intermodal passenger transport can bring the comparative advantage of all sorts of travel transportation into full play and improve the transportation efficiency and service standards. It is an important point of promoting the comprehensive transportation construction.

Multimodal, Intermodal and Terminals
2017This chapter is focused on how to measure the operational performance of rail freight terminals in a framework of integrated transportation network. In an increasingly competitive and commercialised world, there is an increasing demand to be able to rank transport options and routes in some way.

It is challenging for the transportation industry to balance transport costs and carbon emissions. However, intermodal transport is viewed as a modal which can effectively improve transportation capacity and reduce carbon emissions. The aim of this research is to explore the combination of mega intermodal freight trains (MIFTs) and Mega Intermodal Hubs

Abstract With their massive transhipment, major seaports in Europe can generate scale economies to operate intermodal transport cost effective to numerous destinations with high frequency. In that way, the ports seem to be able to stimulate intermodal transport and open new markets beyond their traditional hinterlands. The growing container transport
