Skew and internal consistency.
Journal of Applied Psychology, 2006The effects of skew on the standardized item alpha were examined with Monte Carlo techniques. Alphas computed from normal variables were compared with alphas from lognormal variables, ranks, and skewed versus normal Likert-type variables. The extent and direction of skew were varied, as was the size of the population interitem correlation (rho), the ...

A Nonparametric Coefficient Of Internal Consistency
Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1976This paper discusses a frequency based, nonparametric measure of internal test consistency, referred to herein as coefficient alphaτ, which allows facile measurement of the significance of differences in internal consistency between tests, administrations, or scoring methods.

Internal Consistency in Handprinting
Canadian Society of Forensic Science Journal, 1987ABSTRACTHandprinting exemplars from 48 persons were studied to determine the extent of their internal consistency and the relationships among similarly constructed letters. Several parameters were examined including:- ratio- design features among the a, b and d- design features among the lower zones of the g, j, and y- relationship between the m and n-

Averaging Internal Consistency Reliability Coefficients
Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2006Seven approaches to averaging reliability coefficients are presented. Each approach starts with a unique definition of the concept of “average,” and no approach is more correct than the others. Six of the approaches are applicable to internal consistency coefficients. The seventh approach is specific to alternate-forms coefficients.

Internal Consistency of Manual Muscle Testing Scores
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1997The internal consistencies of manual muscle test scores of the actions of three upper and three lower extremity muscles were examined among 37 home care patients. The correlations between scores of specific pairs of actions ranged from .01 to .88. Cronbach alphas ranged from .59 to .88.

Internal consistency of FRSM specifications
Journal of Systems and Software, 1995Abstract In recent years, research on the integration of structured system analysis methods and formal methods to provide more effective tools for industrial-scale software development has grown. One tool that has been successfully designed on this basis is the formal requirements specification method (FRSM).

Internal consistency estimates of reliability
Research in Nursing & Health, 1990AbstractReliability assessments are appropriate for each research instrument in a study. Measures of internal consistency are a popular set of assessments with Cronbach's alpha being the most favored. Two other measures of internal consistency, theta and omega, have particular characteristics that make their use desirable under certain circumstances ...
