Not All Agreements Are Equal: Heterogeneous Effects of RTAs on Latin American Agri‐Food Exports, 1990–2019

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since the final decade of the 20th century, Latin American countries have increasingly regarded the signing of regional trade agreements (RTAs) as a promising strategy for expanding their exports. Within this context, the main objective of this study is to assess the impact of RTAs on agri‐food exports in Latin America over the period 1990 ...

Angular momentum transport by internal gravity waves

open access: yes, 2007
Context. This is the third in a series of papers that deal with angular momentum transport by internal gravity waves. We concentrate on the waves excited by core convection in a $3\,M_{\odot}$, Pop I main sequence star.

Sound‐Based Assembly of Magnetically Actuated Soft Robots Toward Enhanced Release of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.

Application of Large-Scale Rotating Platforms in the Study of Complex Oceanic Dynamic Processes

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
As the core components of geophysical dynamic system, oceans and atmospheres are dominated by the Coriolis force, which governs complex dynamic phenomena such as internal waves, gravity currents, vortices, and others involving multi-scale spatiotemporal ...

A Novel Parameter Estimation Method for Pneumatic Soft Hand Control Applying Logarithmic Decrement for Pseudo‐Rigid Body Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
In this research, a paradigm of parameter estimation method for pneumatic soft hand control is proposed. The method includes the following: 1) sampling harmonic damping waves, 2) applying pseudo‐rigid body modeling and the logarithmic decrement method, and 3) deriving position and force control.

Boundary layer dynamics of internal gravity waves

open access: yes, 2019
This thesis studies boundary layer dynamics of internal gravity waves. Using small-parameter expansion, approximate solutions to the weakly non-linear and/or viscous internal wave fields are constructed.

Acoustic gravity wave growth and damping in convecting plasma

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae
The propagation of acoustic gravity waves through steadily convecting plasma in the thermosphere has been analysed theoretically. The growth and damping rates of internal gravity waves due to the feedback effects of wave-modulated Joule heating and ...

Small‐Scale Magnetic Peristaltic Soft Robot With Mobility and Transport Capabilities

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a miniature, untethered soft magnetic microrobot with peristaltic capabilities for both locomotion and cargo transport. Eight helically magnetized elastomeric strips deform under rotating fields (10–80 mT, 1–5 Hz), enabling movement across rods and lumina at up to 4.1 body lengths min‐¹.

Research progress on biomarkers of traumatic brain injury

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Traumatic brain injury: From primary insult to secondary neuroinflammation and degeneration. Abstract Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common disorder of the nervous system and has become a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, imposing a substantial burden on patients and their social circles. Its main symptoms include dyskinesia, language

Internal gravity waves: Analysis using the periodic, inverse scattering transform [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 1999
The discrete periodic inverse scattering transform (DPIST) has been shown to provide the salient features of nonlinear Fourier analysis for surface shallow water waves whose dynamics are governed by the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation - (1) linear ...
