Stability of Viscous Three‐Dimensional Stratified Couette Flow via Dispersion and Mixing

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the stability of stratified Couette flow in the viscous 3d$3d$ Boussinesq equations. In this system, mixing effects arise from the shearing background, and gravity acts as a restoring force leading to dispersive internal gravity waves.

Plasmakristall‐4 Experiment: 10 Years of Operation in Orbit

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plasmakristall‐4 (PK‐4) is a microgravity complex plasma laboratory operated for 10 years on board the International Space Station. Its main purpose is the particle‐resolved investigation of generic condensed matter phenomena using strongly coupled suspensions of microparticles immersed in low‐pressure gas‐discharge plasmas.

A study of time-fractional model for atmospheric internal waves with Caputo-Fabrizio derivative.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The internal atmospheric waves are gravity waves and occur in the inner part of the fluid system. In this study, a time-fractional model for internal atmospheric waves is investigated with the Caputo-Fabrizio time-fractional differential operator.

EventFlow: Real‐time neuromorphic event‐driven classification of two‐phase boiling flow regimes

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
We present a real‐time flow regime classification framework that integrates neuromorphic event‐driven sensing with deep recurrent neural networks. Unlike traditional frame‐based approaches, our system captures sparse event streams from an event‐based camera, representing only the dynamic brightness changes at the individual pixel level.

The instability of internal gravity waves to localised disturbances

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae
The instability of an internal gravity wave due to nonlinear wave-wave interaction is studied theoretically and numerically. Three different aspects of this phenomenon are examined. 1. The influence of dissipation on both the resonant and the nonresonant

The Transient IDEMIX Model as a Nonorographic Gravity Wave Parameterization in an Atmospheric Circulation Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
The Internal wave Dissipation, Energy and Mixing (IDEMIX) model presents a novel way of parameterizing internal gravity waves in the atmosphere. Using a continuous full wave spectrum in the energy balance equation and integrating over all vertical ...

Radiation of internal waves from groups of surface gravity waves

open access: yes, 2017
Groups of surface gravity waves induce horizontally varying Stokes drift that drives convergence of water ahead of the group and divergence behind. The mass flux divergence associated with spatially variable Stokes drift pumps water downwards in front of

Enhancing hydrogen evolution reaction by harnessing bubble dynamics regulation: Principles, methods, and outlook

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
Bubble dynamics pose critical bottlenecks to hydrogen evolution reaction efficiency, causing active site isolation, increased ohmic resistance, and concentration overpotential, especially at high current densities. This review comprehensively summarizes passive and active bubble manipulation strategies, elucidates their underlying principles, and ...

INTERNAL GRAVITY-SHEAR WAVES IN THE TROPOSPHERE: I. PHASE VELOCITIES

open access: yes, 1966
The theory of internal gravity-shear waves in the troposphere is examined for two- and three-layer models of air density and horizontal velocity.
