Low‐frequency electroacupuncture attenuates insulin resistance in a rat model of diet‐induced maternal obesity

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction Maternal obesity is highly prevalent worldwide, conferring elevated risks of maternal/fetal complications and adult‐onset disease in offspring. Obesity and pregnancy are both states of insulin resistance. Percutaneous electrical stimulation of skeletal muscle, better known as electroacupuncture (EA), mitigates insulin resistance ...

Reference Intervals for Schirmer Tear Test and Intraocular Pressure in Healthy Hamdani Crossbred Sheep

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
This study establishes reference intervals for Schirmer tear test (STT) and intraocular pressure (IOP) in healthy Hamdani crossbred sheep. STT values were lower and IOP values higher than previously reported, highlighting the importance of breed‐specific reference ranges in clinical ophthalmic evaluation.

Validation of a Pregnancy‐Associated Glycoprotein–Based Lateral Flow Assay for Early Pregnancy Detection in Goats

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
The commercial AOFPT developed to detect PAG molecules in bovine serum, was observed to be a rapid, practical, and effective method for early pregnancy diagnosis for to improve reproductive performance and herd management strategies in goats, especially following the post‐mating 28th day .

Comparative Effects of Laparotomy and Laparoscopy‐Assisted Embryo Transfer on Oxidative Stress and Thiol–Disulphide Homeostasis in Tuj Ewes

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Laparoscopic embryo transfer in Tuj ewes induces less oxidative stress and better preserves thiol–disulphide homeostasis than laparotomy. These findings indicate that minimally invasive approaches better maintain redox balance and antioxidant defence during embryo transfer procedures.

Pharmacokinetics and Bioavailability of Tolfenamic Acid in Calves: First Evaluation of Subcutaneous Administration

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
SC administration was associated with a longer elimination half‐life, mean residence time and mean absorption time, suggesting a slower absorption process compared with the IM route. In addition, systemic exposure, as reflected by AUC0–last and AUC0–∞, was lower after SC administration than after IM and IV dosing. ABSTRACT Objective Tolfenamic acid (TA)
