Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The Effect of Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling on Anatomical and Visual Outcomes in Patients with Macula-Off Retinal Detachment

open access: yesTürk Oftalmoloji Dergisi
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the anatomical and visual outcomes of internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling in patients with macula-involving (“macula-off”) retinal detachment treated with silicone oil endotamponade.

Sub-internal limiting membrane hemorrhage associated with Weil's disease

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2019
Purpose: Leptospirosis is a rare, typically tropical disease associated with water sources infected with rat urine. Symptoms can range from asymptomatic to a severe, deadly form known as Weil's disease, and ocular manifestations can arise.

A General Theory of Non-equilibrium Dynamics of Lipid-protein Fluid Membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present a general and systematic theory of non-equilibrium dynamics of multi-component fluid membranes, in general, and membranes containing transmembrane proteins, in particular.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling in Idiopathic Epiretinal Membrane

open access: yes, 2023
The primary management for epiretinal membrane (ERM) is membrane peel after pars plana vitrectomy. However, the rates of postoperative recurrence of epiretinal membrane reported range from 10 to 21%. Internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling combined with ERM removal has been introduced in an attempt to diminish this recurrence. Some studies showed that

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Outcomes after Epiretinal Membrane Surgery with or Without Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy, 2019
Introduction The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of persistent postoperative cystoid macular edema (pCME) in patients undergoing pars plana vitrectomy with epiretinal membrane peel (ERM) only versus those with ERM peel combined with ...

Biodegradable hollow fibres for the controlled release of hormones [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Poly(l-lactide), (PLLA), hollow fibres were prepared using a dry-wet phase inversion spinning process. The effect of several spinning parameters (i.e. bore medium flow rate, spinning dope extrusion rate, fibre take-up rate, and spinning height) on the ...
