Tripe Palms: A Cutaneous Marker of Internal Malignancy

The Journal of Dermatology, 1995
AbstractTripe palms is a distinctive paraneoplastic cutaneous sign which is frequently associated with internal malignancy, specially carcinomas of the lung and stomach. We describe a patient with ovary carcinoma who showed a curious rugose thickening of the palms with accentuation of the normal dermatoglyphic ridges.

Elite swimmers’ internal markers trajectories in ecological training conditions

Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, 2018
This study examined the trajectories of elite swimmers’ recovery‐stress states and cardiac vagal‐related markers during a 3‐month training period preceding the national championship and their within‐person relationships with perceived control. A Multilevel Growth Curve Analysis (MGCA) approach was used with 21 male elite swimmers.

Actin, a reliable marker of internal control?

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2007
Beta-actin is commonly used to normalize molecular expression studies due to its high conservation as an endogenous housekeeping gene. However, recent studies have shown that beta-actin expression can change in response to biochemical stimuli, during growth and differentiation, and in disease states.

Internal Marker. This little piggy....

The Health service journal, 2002
The government's proposals for a new fixed-price market could mean that many trusts will make significant losses. Acne - a potential skin marker of internal disease

Clinics in Dermatology, 2015
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocrine disorder in adult women. Hyperandrogenism is the crux of the pathogenesis of both acne and hirsutism, the most frequent clinical presentations of the syndrome. Cutaneous Markers of Internal Malignancy

1988
The skin may display a number of reaction patterns and lesions that are important to recognize, since they may reflect an internal cancer. Some skin processes or diseases linked with internal cancers, such as bullous pemphigoid (Figure 15. 1), may be either unassociated when age-matched controls are used or are only associated fortuitously.

[Tumor markers in internal medicine hepatology].

Wiener klinische Wochenschrift, 1989
Primary liver tumour, i.e. hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the world's most common malignancies. The age-standardized incidence rate varies widely from 6/100,000 (Austria) to 100 and more per 100,000 in Mozambique and Taiwan. In these high-risk areas, infection with hepatitis B virus is considered the main risk factor.

Markers of internal dose: chemical agents.

IARC scientific publications, 1997
Biomarkers of internal dose measure the level of a carcinogen or one of its metabolites in a tissue or a body fluid such as urine or blood. The choice of a biomarker of internal dose for a particular epidemiological study or type of study requires careful consideration of the period of exposure to which the biomarker relates, host factors related to ...
