Herniated Proximal Marker of the Stent into the Meningohypophyseal Trunk after Stent-Assisted Coil Embolization for Intracranial Aneurysms

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurology, 2018
The SolitaireTM AB Neurovascular Remodeling Device (ev3, Irvine, CA, USA) is used to retain coils within an aneurysm, reducing the risk of embolic complications from coil herniation into the parent artery. Stents are deployed after confirming the optimal

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Marker changes in the blood lipidogram in the pathogenesis of some internal diseases of horses

open access: yesUkrainian Journal of Veterinary Sciences
Disorders in lipid metabolism in the bodies of horses (genus Equus) due to various factors often lead to the development of diseases, including those associated with the onset of metabolic syndrome.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Efficiency of IRAP and ITS-RFLP marker systems in accessing genetic variation of Pyrenophora graminea

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2010
The usefulness of IRAP (inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism) and ITS-RFLP (restriction of PCR-amplified internal transcribed spacers of the rDNA) markers in the analysis of 39 Pyrenophora graminea isolates was determined.

The missed missing hole

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2012
At times in clinical neurology, the identification of a subtle clinical or radiological sign can lead to prompt diagnosis of a very rare or difficult case. We report on a patient who presented with untreatable headache and unilateral ptosis.

International consortium unveils numerous new cancer genetic markers [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Medical Association Journal, 2013
The largest genome-wide study focused on oncology has discovered 74 new genetic variants linked to breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. The recent coordinated release of 13 papers by the Collaborative Oncological Gene-environment Study (COGS) details the massive effort that involved 160 ...

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.
