Is It Recording?—Racial Bias, Police Accountability, and the Body-Worn Camera Activation Policies of the Ten Largest Metropolitan Police Departments in the USA

open access: yesColumbia Journal of Race and Law, 2018
In recent years, there has been a growing belief that the pressing problem of racial bias in policing might be ameliorated by a technical fix—namely, police body-worn cameras.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

The combination of iliac branch device with parallel stent graft to preserve bilateral internal iliac arteries in a patient with infrarenal abdominal aortic and bilateral common iliac artery aneurysm with short common iliac lengths: A case report

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports
Coexistent aneurysmal involvement of common iliac artery is frequently seen in patients with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm. Bilateral iliac branch devices are an option to preserve bilateral internal iliac arteries in order to decrease the risk of

Arthroscopic Reduction and Internal Fixation for Pipkin Type I Femoral Head Fracture: Technical Note

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2016
Femoral head fractures after posterior dislocation of the hip are uncommon and are conventionally treated by an open method. Hip arthroscopy can be a valuable treatment option for the management of femoral head fractures.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Technical note: use of internal transcribed spacer for ruminal yeast identification in dairy cows

open access: yesAnimal, 2016
Molecular techniques are important tools for microbiological studies in different habitats, and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) has been proved to be useful for analyzing fungal diversity. The aim of this study was to use the ITS region to generate

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...
