Run Up of Surface and Internal Waves
The evolution of breaking waves propagating towards the shore and more specifically the run-up phase over the swash-zone for surface as well as for internal waves is considered. The study is based on a) laboratory run up experiments for surface waves ; b)

Atmospheric density variations related to internal gravity waves [PDF]
Report describes method for estimating gravity-wave density variation from wind speed profile between 60 and 100 km. Single profile is inadequate for valid determination of mean or background values and ensemble averaging over several related profiles is

Magnetization reversal via internal spin waves in magnetic nanoparticles
By numerically solving the equations of motion for atomic spins we show that internal spin-wave processes in large enough magnetic particles, initially in unstable states, lead to complete magnetization reversal and thermalization.

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

Modeling the Effect of Oceanic Internal Waves on the Accuracy of Multibeam Echosounders [PDF]
When ray bending corrections are applied to multibeam echosounder (MBES) data, it is assumed that the varying layers of sound speed lie along horizontally stratified planes.

On linear coupling of acoustic and cyclotron waves in plasma flows
It is found that in magnetized electrostatic plasma flows the velocity shear couples ion-acoustic waves with ion-cyclotron waves and leads, under favorable conditions, to their efficient reciprocal transformations.

We describe a new laboratory technique that has been developed to examine the structure and amplitude of internal waves. As well as being relatively inexpensive to set up, the technique is sensitive to small density fluctuations: heat rising from a hand can easily be seen.

An All‐Optical Driven Bio‐Photovoltaic Interface for Active Control of Live Cells
Bio‐photovoltaic Interface (BIO‐PV‐I) for live cell manipulation is presented. BIO‐PV‐I can be activated non‐invasively and remotely to control the spatial motility, adhesion, and morphology of cells adhering to it. BIO‐PV‐I uses a patterned light‐induced electric potential in iron‐doped lithium niobate crystals whose light‐driven and reversible nature,

Internal Waves and Waves of Sand [PDF]
A DESCRIPTION has been given of some large sand waves on La Chapelle Bank which lie parallel to the general direction of the edge of the continental shelf1. They occur within a zone about 10 miles wide, have a mean separation of 2,800 ft. and are up to 40 ft. high.

A chiral photodetector capable of selectively distinguishing left‐ and right‐handed circularly polarized light is experimentally demonstrated. The device, which features a nanopatterned electrode inverse‐designed by a genetic algorithm within a metal–dielectric–metal nanocavity that incorporates a vacuum‐deposited small‐molecule multilayer, exhibits ...
