Endogenous Free Trade Agreements and International R&D Networks

In this paper, we develop a network formation game in order to study how free trade agreements among countries and R&D networks among firms emerge in equilibrium. Prior research showed that free trade agreements discourage the formation of international R&D networks under the assumption that trade tariffs are exogenous.

International trade analysis of impact of North American Free Trade Agreement on US pecan producers

The objective of this study was to examine the economic impact of NAFTA on US producers of pecans. An econometric method was used to develop supply and demand functions for the United States and an excess supply function for Mexico. The equations were used to measure gains for US consumers and losses for US pecan producers and the government.

International Trade in Carbon Units under GATT 1994 and Free Trade Agreements

Chapter 4 examines whether carbon units qualify as ‘goods’/‘products’ under GATT 1994 and free trade agreements covering goods. Despite complexities, the analysis of Chapter 4 concludes that, on balance, the better view is that ‘carbon units’ do qualify as ‘products’ and ‘goods’ under GATT 1994 and free trade agreements covering goods.
