Layered quality adaptation for Internet video streaming
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2000Streaming audio and video applications are becoming increasingly popular on the Internet, and the lack of effective congestion control in such applications is now a cause for significant concern. The problem is one of adapting the compression without requiring video servers to reencode the data, and fitting the resulting stream into the rapidly varying

A layered DCT coder for Internet video
Proceedings of 3rd IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2002Several compression schemes for Internet video utilize block-based conditional replenishment (CR) where block updates are coded independently of the past. In the current Internet video tools, blocks are compressed with a single-layer representation. We propose a new approach that compresses image blocks using a layered representation.

Transport layer internet mobility based on mSCTP
The 6th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology, 2004., 2004The Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) is a new transport protocol featuring multi-streaming and multi-homing. Until now, there have been two approaches considered to supporting Internet mobility: Mobile IP in the network layer and SIP in the application layer.

The Internet, IP, and the optical layer
Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999IP-based services differ fundamentally in many dimensions from traditional voice-bases services. Since today's transport networks were optimized for these traditional services it should be expected that far-reaching changes will be needed if IP becomes dominant.

Internet Banking – A Layered Approach to Security
2004The advent and popularity of the Internet presented the banking industry with both a challenge and an opportunity to utilise this medium. Although internet banking offered customers the comfort of accessing their accounts from any place, there has been fear of exploitation of the inherent weakness in the technology.

Internet Layers: Connecting the World
The internet has become an indispensable part of our lives. Powering everything from social media and online shopping to video calls and cloud computing. We use it daily, often without a second thought about the intricate processes that allow us to connect with information and people worldwide. This article aims to pull back the curtain and explore theopenaire +1 more source
The Internet as a complex layered system
2016Mainstream discussions of Internet economics often rely on assumptions that were already seriously in doubt by the middle of the twentieth century. As it turns out, the rise of new economic thinking, along with new technology platforms culminating in the Internet, directly challenge many of those chief assumptions.

Wireless Physical-Layer Authentication for the Internet of Things
2017Authentication of messages in an Internet of Things (IoT) is a key security feature that may involve heavy signaling and protocol procedures, not suitable for small devices with very limited computational capabilities and energy availability. In this chapter we address the problem of message authentication in an IoT context, by using physical-layer ...
