Saratoga: scalable, speedy data delivery for sensor networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
A networking transport protocol, named Saratoga, has been developed at the University of Surrey for efficient delivery of imagery from Internet-Protocol-based remote-sensing satellites. Saratoga is now being implemented and evaluated for use for the high-end data-delivery needs of astronomers using large, advanced, radio telescopes.

Heterogeneous Nanopore Arrays – Selective Modification of Nanopores Embedded in a Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biological processes rely on the concerted action of channels with different functionalities embedded in the same membrane. Inspired by nature, heterogeneous nanopore arrays are prepared where two nanopores are connected in parallel and function as two different elements of an ionic circuit: a diode and a resistor.

Using UDP for Internet Transport Evolution [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
The increasing use of middleboxes (e.g., NATs, firewalls) in the Internet has made it harder and harder to deploy new transport or higher layer protocols, or even extensions to existing ones. Current work to address this Internet transport ossification has led to renewed interest in UDP as an encapsulation for making novel transport protocols ...

Automated Composition of Security Protocols [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Determining if two protocols can be securely composed requires analyzing not only their additive properties but also their destructive properties. In this paper we propose a new composition method for constructing protocols based on existing ones found in the literature that can be fully automatized.

Traversing the Periodic Table through Phase‐Separating Nanoreactors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Centimeter‐scale arrays of single nanoparticles, generated through either Dip Pen Nanolithography or Polymer Pen Lithography, allow for the discovery of novel nanomaterials at an unprecedented scale. The development of phase‐separating hydrophobic nanoreactors bypasses element‐specific chemistry limitations, enabling the synthesis of polyelemental ...

Unveiling the Aging Effect at the Interface of N719 Dye‐Sensitized Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Iodide is incorporated into the N719 layer through two mechanisms: the known ligand exchange of NCS with I and a second yet unknown mechanism which significantly blocks the charge regeneration process of the N719 dye contributing to the cell degradation.
