Effective Connectivity Reveals Dual‐Route Mechanism of Visual Prediction Precision via Insula and Pulvinar

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 2, February 1, 2026.
Using 7‐Tesla fMRI and dynamic causal modelling (DCM), we identified a dual‐route mechanism for high‐precision predictions: direct excitatory modulation from the insula to V1, and indirect inhibitory modulation from the insula to V1 via the pulvinar.

Echoes of Pregnancy: Maternal Perception of Phantom Fetal Movements After Childbirth

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 3, Page 412-419, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Phantom fetal movements (PFMs) refer to the perception of fetal‐like abdominal sensations following pregnancy. Despite their prevalence, PFMs remain insufficiently studied, and their underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. This study aimed to examine the prevalence, characteristics and associated factors of PFMs in the general ...

Dihydrotestosterone and Finasteride Effects on Alcohol Cue‐Elicited Brain Activity in Males With Heavy Episodic Drinking

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 31, Issue 2, February 2026.
In a randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled crossover study, we investigated whether finasteride‐induced reduction of dihydrotestosterone alters alcohol cue‐elicited brain activity and craving in males with heavy episodic drinking. Although dihydrotestosterone concentrations were not associated with neural cue reactivity, finasteride increased ...

Deletion of the TRPV1 channel attenuates afferent renal nerve responses to renal artery occlusion but not elevated renal pelvic pressure

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 3, Page 1415-1427, 1 February 2026.
Abstract figure legend Using wild‐type and Trpv1−/− rats, we assessed the contribution of TRPV1 channels to the activation of afferent renal nerve activity (ARNA) during renal artery occlusion, graded reductions in renal blood flow and elevated renal pelvic pressure.

Support Vector Machine Analysis of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Interoception Does Not Reliably Predict Individual Outcomes of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: The approach to apply multivariate pattern analyses based on neuro imaging data for outcome prediction holds out the prospect to improve therapeutic decisions in mental disorders. Patients suffering from panic disorder with agoraphobia (PD/

Autism, oxytocin and interoception

open access: yesNeuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, 2014
Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder characterized by profound social and verbal communication deficits, stereotypical motor behaviors, restricted interests, and cognitive abnormalities. Autism affects approximately 1% of children in developing countries. Given this prevalence, identifying risk factors and therapeutic interventions are pressing

Investigation of the effect of sleep quality on balance, reaction time and interoception in young women

open access: yesAdıyaman Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Dergisi
Aim: This study primarily examined the effects of sleep quality on dynamic balance, reaction time, and interoception in young women. The secondary aim of the study was to examine factors affecting sleep quality.Materials and Methods: Forty-nine women ...

Neural hypersensitivity to pleasant touch in women remitted from anorexia nervosa. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Interoception, or the sensing and integration of bodily state signals, has been implicated in anorexia nervosa (AN), given that the hallmark symptoms involve food restriction and body image disturbance. Here we focus on brain response to the anticipation
