On the solar origin of interplanetary disturbances observed in the vicinity of the Earth [PDF]
The solar origin of 40 interplanetary disturbances observed in the vicinity of the Earth between January 1997 and June 1998 is investigated in this paper.

Abstract This study reports the first observations of cosmic noise power (CNP) and cosmic noise absorption (CNA) obtained with a next‐generation riometer installed at the Southern Space Observatory (SSO/INPE) in Brazil, located within the South American Magnetic Anomaly (SAMA).

Abstract Satellite X‐ray imagers are highly vulnerable to contamination by soft protons (∼100 keV), which can trigger spurious charge‐coupled device events and force interruptions in observations. For XMM‐Newton, such contamination reduced usable science time by ∼40%.

Abstract Strong geomagnetic disturbances (GMDs) caused by intense space storms induce geomagnetically induced currents (GICs) in the Earth and within long conductive infrastructure, potentially posing risks to electricity transmission systems. Here, we investigate the solar wind conditions and magnetospheric processes responsible for two significant ...

How the 29 July 2025 M8.8 Kamchatka Earthquake Shook the Ionosphere Over Japan
Abstract This study investigates the mid‐field (∼1,100–3,800 km) ionospheric response to the 29 July 2025 Kamchatka earthquake over Japan using multi‐instrument observations, raytracing, and numerical simulations. Total electron content (TEC) observations from GPS satellite G04 and Galileo satellite E10 show a maximum TEC perturbation of ∼0.5–0.85 TECU

Flat Spectra of Energetic Particles in Interplanetary Shock Precursors
The observed energy spectra of accelerated particles at interplanetary shocks often do not match the diffusive shock acceleration (DSA) theory predictions. In some cases, the particle flux forms a plateau over a wide range of energies, extending upstream

Extension, Improvements and Perspectives of the Cluster GRMB Data Set
Abstract The purpose of the Geospace Region and Magnetospheric Boundary identification (GRMB) data set is to provide information on the regions crossed by each of the 4 Cluster spacecraft during the entire mission. The data set includes 15 labels, 11 for regions and transition regions (TR): plasmasphere, plasmapause TR, plasmasheet, plasmasheet TR ...

Propagation of Interplanetary Shocks in the Heliosphere
Interplanetary shocks are one of the crucial dynamic processes in the Heliosphere. They accelerate particles into a high energy, generate plasma waves, and could potentially trigger geomagnetic storms in the terrestrial magnetosphere disturbing significantly our technological infrastructures. In this study, two IP shock events are selected to study the

Abstract Lunar magnetic anomalies are abundant near the south pole, where several moderate‐strength anomalies spatially overlap permanently shadowed regions (PSRs). This environment provides a unique setting to assess how crustal magnetic fields and topography regulate plasma–surface interactions and, in turn, the stability and distribution of surface ...
