Use of approximate scattering theories as interpolation guides

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1992
A simple method is given for using a fast but not necessarily accurate scattering approximation to interpolate the results of an exact calculation. The goal is to minimize the number of points where the expensive, exact calculation must be done. The approximate theory is used to remove the rapidly varying parts of the exact S-matrix to obtain a slowly ...

Interpolation and approximation from the \(M\)-theory point of view

The authors provide a decomposition method for subspaces of a Banach space in the framework of \(M\)-structure theory which can be thought of as a non-commutative generalization of the Bishop-Šilov decomposition theorem for function algebras. The approach needs various new technical definitions.

Interpolation and approximation theory

Summary: Originally written for the extramural educational program at the University of Uppsala, this paper introduces the readers to the basic ideas of interpolation and approximation theory through a combination of theory and exercises. Among the topics treated are spline methods, Lagrange interpolation, trigonometric approximation, Fourier series ...
