Ab initio study of electron-phonon interaction in phosphorene [PDF]
The monolayer of black phosphorous, or phosphorene, has recently emerged as a new 2D semiconductor with intriguing highly anisotropic transport properties.

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

A polynomial filtering algorithm is designed for estimating a Markov sequence based on linear measurements. The feature of the estimation problem is that the Markov sequence is described by a nonlinear shaping filter, which is a second‐order polynomial ...

Geometric iteration (GI) is one of the most efficient curve- or surface-fitting techniques in recent years, which is famous for its remarkable geometric significance. In essence, GI can be thought of as the sum of iterative methods for solving systems of

Multipatch Approximation of the de Rham Sequence and its Traces in Isogeometric Analysis
We define a conforming B-spline discretisation of the de Rham complex on multipatch geometries. We introduce and analyse the properties of interpolation operators onto these spaces which commute w.r.t. the surface differential operators.

Spectral filtering for the reduction of the Gibbs phenomenon of polynomial approximation methods on Lissajous curves with applications in MPI [PDF]
Polynomial interpolation and approximation methods on sampling points along Lissajous curves using Chebyshev series is an effective way for a fast image reconstruction in Magnetic Particle Imaging.

There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

A Gaussian effective theory for gluon saturation
We construct a Gaussian approximation to the effective theory for the Colour Glass Condensate which describes correctly the gluon distribution both in the low density regime at high transverse momenta (above the saturation scale $Q_s$), and in the high ...

Exploring the role of cyclin D1 in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma beyond cell cycle regulation
Cyclin D1 overexpression altered the cell adhesion pathway, while cyclin D2 upregulation had less impact on pathway enrichment analysis. Multiple myeloma (MM) patients with cyclin D1 overexpression showed reduced CD56 expression and increased circulating tumor cells (CTC) levels, suggesting that cyclin D1 may contribute to MM cell dissemination ...

QED2 as a testbed for interpolations between quenched and full QCD
Lattice QED2 with the Wilson formulation of fermions is used as a convenient model system to study artifacts of the quenched approximation on a finite lattice. The quenched functional integral is shown to be ill-defined in this system as a consequence of
