Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Structuring clinical text with AI: Old versus new natural language processing techniques evaluated on eight common cardiovascular diseases

open access: yesPatterns, 2021
Summary: Free-text clinical notes in electronic health records are more difficult for data mining while the structured diagnostic codes can be missing or erroneous. To improve the quality of diagnostic codes, this work extracts diagnostic codes from free-

Early Prediction of Alzheimer’s Disease Using Interpretable Machine Learning Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesمجله انفورماتیک سلامت و زیست پزشکی, 2023
Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases in adults. The progressive nature of Alzheimer’s disease causes widespread damage to the brain, and early diagnosis can manage the disease and slow down its ...

Prediction and Chemical Interpretation of Singlet-Oxygen-Scavenging Activity of Small Molecule Compounds by Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
A chemically explainable machine learning model was constructed with a small dataset to quantitatively predict the singlet-oxygen-scavenging ability. In this model, ensemble learning based on decision trees resulted in high accuracy.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

XAI for Churn Prediction in B2B Models: A Use Case in an Enterprise Software Company

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The literature related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) models and customer churn prediction is extensive and rich in Business to Customer (B2C) environments; however, research in Business to Business (B2B) environments is not sufficiently addressed ...

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Bi-interpretation in weak set theories [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In contrast to the robust mutual interpretability phenomenon in set theory, Ali Enayat proved that bi-interpretation is absent: distinct theories extending ZF are never bi-interpretable and models of ZF are bi-interpretable only when they are isomorphic.
