Improving the Rate of Preschool Vision Screening: An Interrupted Time-Series Analysis
Pediatrics, 2011OBJECTIVE:To implement a 6-month quality improvement project in 13 clinics in North Carolina to improve vision screening rates for children 3 through 5 years of age.METHODS:We trained each clinic in approaches to vision screening and selected champions to provide feedback based on a 3-month baseline chart audit of up to 90 charts in each clinic and ...

Evaluating pharmaceutical policy impacts using interrupted time series analysis
2012Determining the impacts of policy on health outcomes is important for policy makers, clinicians and consumers. Interrupted time series analysis is a powerful quasi experimental method for quantifying change in an outcome after policy implementation. We illustrate the use of interrupted time series analysis for policy evaluation with an Australian case ...

[Design and analysis of two groups interrupt time series].
Zhonghua liu xing bing xue za zhi = Zhonghua liuxingbingxue zazhi, 2019Interrupted time-series (ITS) is a quasi-experimental design which evaluates the effectiveness of an intervention based on time-series outcome variables. Compared with the single group of ITS, the two groups of ITS can better control the influence of pre-interventional confounding factors and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention.

Analysis of Interrupted Time-Series Experiments Using ITSE: A Critique
Understanding Statistics, 2004The ITSE method (Gottman, 1981; Rushe & Gottman, 1993; Williams & Gottman, 1982, 1999) for analyzing the 2-phase interrupted time-series design was evaluated. I point out that the method yields intervention effect estimates that are inconsistent with the logic of the design and that these estimates are likely to be quite misleading.

Interrupted Time Series Analysis of Bar/Tavern Closing Hours and Violent Crime
JAMA Internal MedicineImportanceIt is well established that alcohol outlets (ie, places that sell alcohol) attract crime, particularly during late-night hours.ObjectiveTo evaluate the association of Maryland Senate Bill 571 (SB571), which reduced the hours of sale for bars/taverns in 1 Baltimore neighborhood from 6 am to 2 am to 9 am to 10 pm, with violent crime within that

A matching framework to improve causal inference in interrupted time‐series analysis
Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice, 2017AbstractRationale, aims, and objectivesInterrupted time‐series analysis (ITSA) is a popular evaluation methodology in which a single treatment unit's outcome is studied over time and the intervention is expected to “interrupt” the level and/or trend of the outcome, subsequent to its introduction. When ITSA is implemented without a comparison group, the
