On flag‐transitive imprimitive 2‐designs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of combinatorial designs (Print), 2020
In 1987, Huw Davies proved that, for a flag‐transitive point‐imprimitive 2‐ ( v , k , λ ) design, both the block‐size k and the number v of points are bounded by functions of λ , but he did not make these bounds explicit. In this paper we derive explicit

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Multi-criteria comparative assessment of unconventional roundabout designs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2021
Roundabout design has been evolving to include versatile types that target specific characteristics of each considered location. They started addressing maneuverability issues and directional splits, among other factors.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Mathematic Lesson Design for English Learners Versus Non-English Learners From Perspectives of Equity and Intersection

open access: yesJournal of Urban Mathematics Education, 2022
Calls for “mathematics for all” or “mathematics for social justice” bring light to the importance of equity issues within and through mathematics education.

The effects of fair allocation principles on energy system model designs [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Energy
What constitutes socially just or unjust energy systems or transitions can be derived from the philosophy and theories of justice. Assessments of distributive justice and utilising them in modelling lead to great differences based on which justice ...

Unconventional Intersection Designs for Improving Traffic Operation Along Arterial Roads

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering, 2021
The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the effect of implementing four Unconventional Arterial Intersection Designs (UAIDs) including median U-Turn, Superstreet, Jughandle and Single Quadrant Intersection on a major arterial road using SYNCHRO ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.
