Interstellar scattering in the inner parts of the Galaxy
Nature, 1984A new survey of the galactic plane for sources with size less than 1 arc s at 327 MHz shows that towards the inner parts of the galaxy for galactic latitudes less than 5°, interstellar scattering is much larger than expected from data at higher latitudes. The enhanced scattering varies both with galactic latitude and longitude.

Interstellar scattering of SgrA∗
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1988SgrA* is a compact, nonthermal radio source located in the center of the dense stellar cluster that defines the center of our galaxy. The effects of interstellar propagation, or limits thereon, on signals form SgrA* will be described.

Anisotropy in Pulsar Interstellar Scattering
Chinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2006Pulsar observers have to contend with several effects of propagation through the ionized interstellar medium. I review those effects and how they can be used to study the interstellar plasma. Pulsars are normally observed under conditions of strong scintillation and show both diffractive and refractive effects. I emphasize the diffractive scintillation

RadioAstron observations of pulsars and interstellar scattering
2014 United States National Committee of URSI National Radio Science Meeting (USNC-URSI NRSM), 2014We describe RadioAstron observations directed to understand interstellar scattering by studies of pulsars. The RadioAstron project is an international collaborative mission involving a free-flying satellite, Spektr-R, carrying a 10-m space radio telescope on an elliptical orbit around the Earth.

Scattering by interstellar graphite dust analog
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2014Abstract The analysis of optical scattering data of interstellar carbonaceous graphite dust analog at 543.5 nm, 594.5 nm and 632.8 nm laser wavelengths by using an original laboratory light scattering setup is presented. The setup primarily consisted of a laser source, optical units, aerosol sprayer, data acquisition system and associated ...

Scattering and Absorption of X-rays by Interstellar Dust

Interstellar scattering of maser radiation
1993Interstellax scattering of pulsars, extragalactic sources, and galactic masers is used to discuss the overall galactic distribution of scattering material and the implied angular scattering vs galactic coordinates. I discuss the prospects for observing diffractive and refractive scintillations of maser signals.

X-Ray Scattering on the Interstellar Dust
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1997The interaction of X-rays with interstellar dust leads to small angle scattering. X-ray sources behind sufficiently dense dust columns are therefore surrounded by haloes of faint and diffuse X-ray emission. Since these X-ray sources are also highly absorbed, X-ray observations offer the unique opportunity to measure both components of interstellar ...

Astrophysical Applications of Scattering in Interstellar and Intracluster Gases

Observations and Levy statistics in interstellar scattering
Astronomical & Astrophysical Transactions, 2007Levy flights are similar to random walks, but are dominated by rare, large events rather than the accumulation of many steps. Levy flights are not subject to the Central Limit Theorem because the distribution of steps has no second moment; they converge to Levy-stable distributions, which have power-law tails and are stable in form under convolution ...
