The use of transgenic animals for xenotransplantation: An update

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
One way to produce genetically modified pigs is to use somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). This procedure involves removing the metaphase plate from a mature oocyte using micromanipulation and then transferring the modified nucleus from the donor somatic cell to the oocyte.

Engineering Ultrasound Contrast Agents for Targeted Therapeutics: A Theranostic Approach to Drug Delivery, Gene Therapy, and Immunomodulation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Ultrasound contrast agents, including microbubbles and nanobubbles, transform imaging and targeted therapy through precise engineering of size, shell composition, and surface properties. This review explores how these innovations enable tissue‐specific delivery, enhance therapeutic efficacy, and extend applications from vascular imaging to tumor ...

Multi‐Omics Insights Into the Role of Fructooligosaccharides Supplementation in Alleviating Salpingitis in Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics analysis revealed that FOS supplementation increased the abundance of Phascolarctobacterium, GCA‐900066575, Shuttleworthia, Olsenella, Eubacterium_hallii_group while decreasing Alistipes. It also influenced the metabolism of S‐lactoylglutathione, p‐cresol glucuronate, 2‐phenylethanol glucuronide, propionic acid, dulcitol, and inhibited the ...

Mucosal‐Associated Invariant T Cells in Rheumatic Diseases

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Mucosal‐associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are innate‐like T cells defined by their semi‐invariant T cell receptor and restriction by the major histocompatibility complex class I–related molecule (MR1). These cells are primarily activated by microbial‐derived metabolites presented by MR1 or by cytokines.

Peripheral Blood Gene Expression Profiling and Prognostic Significance for the Course of Interstitial Lung Disease in Patients With Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective We used data from the placebo arm of the Safety and Efficacy of Nintedanib in Systemic Sclerosis (SENSCIS) trial to determine the prognostic/predictive significance of peripheral blood cell (PBC) transcript modules for the course of forced vital capacity (FVC) in patients with systemic sclerosis–associated interstitial lung disease (SSc‐ILD ...
