Equalization of Sparse Intersymbol-Interference Channels Revisited

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2006
Sparse intersymbol-interference (ISI) channels are encountered in a variety of communication systems, especially in high-data-rate systems. These channels have a large memory length, but only a small number of significant channel coefficients.

One-Dimensional Detection Using Interference Estimation by Multilayered Two-Dimensional General Partial Response Targets for Bit-Patterned Media Recording Systems

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In bit-patterned media recording (BPMR) systems, two-dimensional (2D) interference, which includes intersymbol and intertrack interference from down- and across-track directions, respectively, increases when the distance between the islands is reduced ...

Gaussian Intersymbol Interference Channels With Mismatch [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2019
This paper considers the problem of channel coding over Gaussian intersymbol interference (ISI) channels with a given metric decoding rule. Specifically, it is assumed that the mismatched decoder has an incorrect assumption on the impulse response function. The mismatch capacity is the highest achievable rate for a given decoding rule.

Interference Gaussianization: Time-Domain Inter-Symbol Spreading for Blind Adaptive Array Signal Source Identification

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
This paper proposes a novel blind adaptive array (BAA) interference suppression scheme incorporated with a time-domain symbol spreading (TISS). It can expand an operational region of BAA irrespective of input signal-to-interference power ratio (SIR ...

Intersymbol Decorrelating Detector for Asynchronous CDMA Networks with Multipath

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2005
Most reported multiuser detection techniques for CDMA systems need the channel estimation including the delay spread and the parameters of the multipath channel of the desired user.

Spatial Diversity Scheme to Efficiently Cancel ISI and ICI in OFDM-OQAM Systems

open access: yesJournal of Computer Systems, Networks, and Communications, 2010
This paper is based on an Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (OQAM) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission scheme that is operated without a Cyclic Prefix (CP), where the multiple transmitting antennas are employed to ...

Performance analysis of a hybrid optical CDMA/DWDM system against inter-symbol interference and four wave mixing

open access: yesDigital Communications and Networks, 2021
This paper reports the implementation and theoretical model for analyzing an optical CDMA/DWDM hybrid system to reduce two major problems, the Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and the Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) effects and improve the performance of optical ...

Universal Decoding for Gaussian Intersymbol Interference Channels [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2015
A universal decoding procedure is proposed for the intersymbol interference (ISI) Gaussian channels. The universality of the proposed decoder is in the sense of being independent of the various channel parameters, and at the same time, attaining the same random coding error exponent as the optimal maximum-likelihood (ML) decoder, which utilizes full ...
