Interval Analysis for Embedded Systems
1999An application of interval arithmetic to software testing is described, which has its main importance for embedded systems, in particular safety critical systems. Interval arithmetic allows the full range of input data to be tested and derives predictions about possible variable range violation at runtime.

Interval Analysis of Vibrating Systems
14th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise: Vibrations of Mechanical Systems and the History of Mechanical Design, 1993Abstract Interval calculus is a tool to evaluate a mathematical expression for ranges of values of its parameters. The basic mathematical operations are defined in the interval algebra. Vibrating systems having system parameters, initial conditions or forcing functions defined as intervals rather than single-valued ...

Archetypal Analysis of Interval Data. [PDF]
In this paper we present a mathematical model for archetypal analysis of data represented by means of intervals of real numbers. We extend the model for single-valued data proposed in the pioneering work of Cutler and Breiman on this topic. The core problem is a non-convex optimization one, which we solve by means of a sequential quadratic programming ...

Interval Arithmetic and Interval Analysis: An Introduction
2001This article commences with a brief historical introduction to interval analysis and some applications in engineering. This is followed by a simple example motivating the use of interval analysis. A more detailed definition of interval analysis and some properties are then given followed by a discussion of the application of interval analysis to the ...

On the convergence of validity interval analysis
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 2000Validity interval analysis (VIA) is a generic tool for analyzing the input-output behavior of feedforward neural networks. VIA is a rule extraction technique that relies on a rule refinement algorithm. The rules are of the form R(i)-->R(0) which reads if the input of the neural network is in the region R(i), then its output is in the region R(0), where

Semantic analysis of interval congruences
2006This paper describes a new non relational semantic analysis of program integer variables. Interval congruence analysis is designed using Cousot's abstract interpretation framework, its model generalizes integer intervals and integer cosets by the definition of coset congruences.

Interval analysis for computer graphics
Proceedings of the 19th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques, 1992This paper discusses how interval analysis can be used to solve a wide variety of problems in computer graphics. These problems include ray tracing, interference detection, polygonal decomposition of parametric surfaces, and CSG on solids bounded by parametric surfaces. Only two basic algorithms are required: SOLVE, which computes solutions to a system
