Interval observers for linear time-invariant systems with disturbances [PDF]

open access: yesAutomatica, 2011
International audienceIt is shown that, for any time-invariant exponentially stable linear system with additive disturbances, time-varying exponentially stable interval observers can be constructed.

State and Unknown Terrain Estimation for Planetary Rovers via Interval Observers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, 2023
Herein, the problem of state and unknown terrain estimation is considered, where the unknown planetary terrain parameters, e.g., terrain stiffness and ground height, are inferred from how it affects rover motion through vehicle‐terrain interaction.

Interval observer of minimal error dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesAutomatica, 2020
This paper proposes a simple interval observer which can generate tighter interval estimates of variables in transient states than the standard interval observer. The simple nonlinear dynamics shrinks the estimated intervals to true state variables at the maximum velocity in the absence of disturbances. In the presence of bounded disturbances, ultimate

A physical protocol for observers near the boundary to obtain bulk information in quantum gravity

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2021
We consider a set of observers who live near the boundary of global AdS, and are allowed to act only with simple low-energy unitaries and make measurements in a small interval of time. The observers are not allowed to leave the near-boundary region.

Principal component analysis for interval‐valued observations [PDF]

open access: yesStatistical Analysis and Data Mining: The ASA Data Science Journal, 2011
AbstractOne feature of contemporary datasets is that instead of the single point value in thep‐dimensional space ℜpseen in classical data, the data may take interval values thus producing hypercubes in ℜp. This paper studies the vertices principal components methodology for interval‐valued data; and provides enhancements to allow for so‐called ‘trivial’

Delay-dependent positivity: Application to interval observers [PDF]

open access: yes2015 European Control Conference (ECC), 2015
New delay-dependent conditions of positivity for linear systems with time-varying delays are introduced. These conditions are applied to interval observer design for systems with time-varying delays in the state equations and in the measurements.

On design of sampled-data interval observers [PDF]

open access: yes2016 European Control Conference (ECC), 2016
New design of interval observers for continuous-time systems with discrete-time measurements is proposed. Positivity and stability conditions are obtained using the time-delay approach. Next, control is synthesized based on interval estimates. Efficiency of the obtained solution is demonstrated on examples.

Interval Observer Design for Nonlinear Systems: Stability Radii Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper presents a new approach to design preserving order and interval observers for a family of nonlinear systems in absence and in presence of parametric uncertainties and exogenous disturbances.

A survey on interval observer design using positive system approach

open access: yesFranklin Open, 2023
Interval observers provide an interval state estimate for system states that cannot be measured directly at any moment. The core idea for the interval observer design is to provide the cooperativity of the estimated error dynamic system through a proper ...

Nonlocal Electrodynamics of Linearly Accelerated Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The measurement of an electromagnetic radiation field by a linearly accelerated observer is discussed. The nonlocality of this process is emphasized. The nonlocal theory of accelerated observers is briefly described and the consequences of this theory ...
