Study protocol: a randomised controlled trial investigating the effect of exercise training on peripheral blood gene expression in patients with stable angina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Exercise training has been shown to reduce angina and promote collateral vessel development in patients with coronary artery disease. However, the mechanism whereby exercise exerts these beneficial effects is unclear.

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

The effect of 8 weeks of interval training combined with the consumption of cineole, linalool, and bourbonene on MAPK/Arc gene expression and learning in rats with Alzheimer’s disease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences
Background and aims: This research aimed to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of interval training and the use of cineole, linalool, and bourbonene on MAPK/Arc gene expression and learning in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) rats.

HORMONAL RESPONSE TO DIFFERENT REST INTERVALS DURING RESISTANCE TRAINING WITH LIGHT LOADS [PDF]

open access: yesPedagogìka, Psihologìâ ta Mediko-bìologìčnì Problemi Fìzičnogo Vihovannâ ì Sportu, 2014
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to determine the appropriate rest time between sets during weight training with light load. Material: Seventeen cadet wrestlers (age =16.7±0.6 yrs.; height =169.2±8.2 cm; and weight =51.4±7.9 kg) were ...

'Functional' inspiratory and core muscle training enhances running performance and economy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We compared the effects of two 6-week high-intensity interval training interventions. Under the control condition (CON), only interval training was undertaken, whilst under the intervention condition (ICT), interval training sessions were followed ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

The Effect of Eight Weeks of Intermittent Rehabilitation Training with Quercetin ‎Nanoliposome on the Apoptotic Indices of P38 and MK2 in Male Rats with Isoproterenol ‎Induced Myocardial Infarction Model [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Paramedical Science and Rehabilitation
Purpose:Quercetin is effective in the rehabilitation and treatment of apoptosis caused by cardiac ischemia, however, due to its low solubility in water, it is not suitable for clinical application, which can be improved by turning it into nanoparticles ...

A Multi-Center Comparison of O2peak Trainability Between Interval Training and Moderate Intensity Continuous Training

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
There is heterogeneity in the observed O2peak response to similar exercise training, and different exercise approaches produce variable degrees of exercise response (trainability).

Circulating tumor DNA monitoring and blood tumor mutational burden in patients with metastatic solid tumors treated with atezolizumab

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In patients treated with atezolizumab as a part of the MyPathway (NCT02091141) trial, pre‐treatment ctDNA tumor fraction at high levels was associated with poor outcomes (radiographic response, progression‐free survival, and overall survival) but better sensitivity for blood tumor mutational burden (bTMB).

Current aspects of high-intensity interval training for older adults: a narrative review

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2022
Negative aspects of aging include a decrease in muscle mass/strength and maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max). The most beneficial and adaptable protocol among the various exercise methods should be explored in older adults.
