Abstract Hepatitis B, caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV), is a global public health issue that affects 290 million people worldwide. Most people with hepatitis B are in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMIC), where health systems and resources are often constrained.

Deep Learning-Based Sparse Whole-Slide Image Analysis for the Diagnosis of Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia [PDF]
In recent years, deep learning has successfully been applied to automate a wide variety of tasks in diagnostic histopathology. However, fast and reliable localization of small-scale regions-of-interest (ROI) has remained a key challenge, as discriminative morphologic features often occupy only a small fraction of a gigapixel-scale whole-slide image ...

Abdominal synthetic CT reconstruction with intensity projection prior for MRI-only adaptive radiotherapy [PDF]
An MRI-only adaptive radiotherapy (ART) workflow is desirable for managing interfractional changes in anatomy, but producing synthetic CT (sCT) data through paired data-driven deep learning (DL) for abdominal dose calculations remains a challenge due to the highly variable presence of intestinal gas.

Postprandial morphological response of the intestinal epithelium of the Burmese python (Python molurus) [PDF]
The postprandial morphological changes of the intestinal epithelium of Burmese pythons were examined using fasting pythons and at eight time points after feeding. In fasting pythons, tightly packed enterocytes possess very short microvilli and are arranged in a pseudostratified fashion.

DNA Origami‐Cyanine Nanocomplex for Precision Imaging of KRAS‐Mutant Pancreatic Cancer Cells
DNA origami‐cyanine (Do‐Cy) nanocomplexes are synthesized to selectively image KRAS‐mutant pancreatic cancer cells in the highly desmoplastic tumors. This study shows that the Do‐Cy nanocomplexes are preferentially internalized by cancer cells over other stroma cells via KRAS‐dependent macropinocytosis.

A single‐cell and spatial transcriptional atlas reveals the architecture of human gastric cancer stem cell (CSC) niche and the developmental trajectory of CSCs. These CSCs interact with immunosuppressive immune cells thereby constructing immune‐suppressive niche, and inflammatory cancer‐associated fibroblast (iCAFs) to enhance stemness through ...

This study demonstrates that the atypical dehydrogenase/isomerase FabX in Type‐II fatty acid biosynthesis pathway is essential for H. pylori infection by retaining unsaturated fatty acid synthesis and producing superoxide (ROS). A small molecule FBX‐1991 that specifically targets FabX to inhibit H.

Visualizing intestines for diagnostic assistance of ileus based on intestinal region segmentation from 3D CT images [PDF]
This paper presents a visualization method of intestine (the small and large intestines) regions and their stenosed parts caused by ileus from CT volumes. Since it is difficult for non-expert clinicians to find stenosed parts, the intestine and its stenosed parts should be visualized intuitively.
