Gastric Foveolar‐Type Hyperplastic Polyp of the Duodenum With GNAS and KRAS Mutations: A Potential Precursor to Neoplasia

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We report a gastric foveolar‐type hyperplastic polyp of the duodenum harboring mutations in the GNAS and KRAS genes. The lesion was incidentally detected during a routine upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in a man in his 50s. It appeared as a 10‐mm elevated lesion located at the superior duodenal angle.

Cost‐Effectiveness Analysis of Fecal Immunochemical Test‐ and Colonoscopy‐based Colorectal Cancer Screening across Varying Uptake Rates

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives To reduce the burden of colorectal cancer (CRC), identifying cost‐effective screening strategies with particular attention to screening adherence is essential. We aimed to assess the cost‐effectiveness of screening strategies using fecal immunochemical test (FIT) and/or total colonoscopy (TCS) through simulation model analyses using

Clinicopathological Features of Superficial Non‐Ampullary Duodenal Epithelial Tumors Involving Brunner's Glands

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract Background and Aims Although Brunner's glands (BGs), located in the submucosa of the duodenum, may be involved by tumor cells of superficial non‐ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors (SNADETs), the detailed incidence and histopathological features have not yet been analyzed. This study aimed to clarify the histopathological relationship between

KRAS‐G12C: The neglected biomarker to detect patients with MUTYH‐associated polyposis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 6, Page 1588-1598, 15 March 2026.
What's new? MUTYH‐associated polyposis is an underdiagnosed recessive syndrome that predisposes individual to colorectal cancer and frequently displays KRAS‐G12C mutations. By analyzing a large cohort of colorectal cancer patients routinely tested for KRAS, the authors assessed whether KRAS‐G12C detection could serve as a pre‐screening tool for the ...

Exploring the Key Role of Nanotechnology on Intratumoral Microbiome Modulation for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
The review provides a comprehensive analysis of microbiome‐mediated oncogenic mechanisms in various cancers, emphasizing the unique therapeutic strategies facilitated by nanotechnology. It aims to fill this gap by systematically reviewing nanotechnology‐driven strategies for microbiome elimination, with a focus on their ability to improve the cold TME ...
