Printing‐Assisted Integration of Thermal, Fluidic and Electrical Components in Implants for Focal Brain Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Extrusion‐based 3D printing of silicones and discrete electronic components are combined to create cortical implants for rodents that integrate thermal neuromodulation and electrical recording. Linked to an autonomous auxiliary driver unit, the system enables rapid, stable and localized hypothermia alongside ECoG recording.

Closing the Loop: High‐Precision 3D Photofabrication in Living Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Writing 3D microstructures inside living tissue demands more than laser access; It demands information. Hierarchical sensing captures thermal and mechanical states across pulse‐train, voxel, and structure timescales, feeding a controller that steers the laser in real time.

A case of intestinal Behçet disease in a deceased donor kidney transplantation recipient

open access: yesClinical Transplantation and Research
Behçet disease (BD) is a multisystem inflammatory disorder characterized by a chronic relapsing course. Because immunosuppressive therapy is the mainstay of BD treatment, its use in transplant recipients may attenuate typical clinical manifestations ...

Anatomy of the alimentary tract of Salminus brasiliensis (Cuvier, 1817) (Pisces, Characidae, Salmininae) [PDF]

open access: yesBiotemas, 2008
The alimentary tract of Salminus brasiliensis shows anatomic adaptations to its carnivorous, ichthyophagous feeding habit, particularly regarding the distensible esophagus and stomach, especially the caecal region, and the relatively short intestine. The

Intestinal cells influence valve cell polarity.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Terminal stage die-1(w34) mutant embryo. The apical junctions (green, AJM-1) are discontinuous between the pharynx and the intestine, with several nuclei (blue, DAPI) visible in the gap. Compare to the wild-type junctional pattern in panel K.

Architected Load Paths Enable Stiffening and Motion Programming in Soft Pneumatic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A single MARS template introduces an architected reinforcement strategy for programmable soft pneumatic actuators through internal structural organization and selective beam removal. This monolithic architecture enables deformation reconfiguration from continuous bending to joint‐like articulation and torsional motion, allowing one compliant platform ...

Experiments on Nonlocal Fluid‐Flow Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nonlocal fluid‐flow metamaterial composed of standard microfluidic tubes and connectors is designed. Hence, the current of the system at one position depends on the gradient of fluid flow at many other positions, leading to unusual alternating backward and forward laminar flows of water.
