Optical Magnetic Field Detection: Intracavity Phase Interferometry

open access: yesInternational Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena, 2010
A new approach to magnetometry is demonstrated. Using intracavity phase to frequency conversion a sensitivity of 10nT corresponding to a polarization rotation of 2x10-9rad can be achieved, using a short TGG crystal as sensing element.

Intracavity Phase Interferometry Enhanced with Resonant Linear Dispersion

open access: yesConference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017
Intracavity phase interferometry measures a beat frequency between two counter circulating pulses within a mode-locked cavity. A modification of sensitivity through insertion of resonant linear dispersion is experimentally demonstrated, while the pulse velocity remains unchanged.

Intracavity phase interferometry: frequency combs sensor inside a laser cavity

open access: yesLaser & Photonics Reviews, 2014
AbstractIn traditional interferometric measurements, a physical quantity that changes the phase of a resonator is monitored through a change of its transmission. Interferometry inside a laser exploits the ultimate Q‐factor of that resonator, and converts the phase to be measured into a frequency.

Novel free space and fiber laser cavities demonstrating extreme sensitivities in Intracavity Phase Interferometry systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Optics / Laser Science, 2018
A method to enhance the sensitivity of sensors based on Intracavity Phase Interferometry by a factor of up to 10,000 is demonstrated in a free space laser. This technique is then implemented in fiber lasers.

Precise intracavity phase interferometry in an optical parametric oscillator with two pulses per cavity round trip

Optics Letters, 2010
Phase shifts of less than 10(-7) rad are measured through intracavity phase interferometry, a figure that corresponds to cavity length changes of the order of femtometers. The technique is demonstrated with a synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator.

Subharmonic synchronously intracavity pumped picosecond optical parametric oscillator for intracavity phase interferometry

Laser Physics Letters, 2014
The laser system suitable for precise intracavity phase interferometry is presented. The system is based on an intracavity pumped PPLN linear optical parametrical oscillator (OPO). For synchronous pumping of OPO a SESAM-mode-locked, picosecond, diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 linear oscillator, operating at 1.06 µm was used.
